I enjoy reading and writing as well and often find myself imagining what a certain story or scene would look like. I love to mix and match different reference images and my own mental images in the attempt of creating accurate ambiance.
Here we have one of the first summery hot competition days of late spring. The ground is somewhat lacking in sharp shadows (might do some touch up later) but other than that I’m happy with this piece. It was really quite experimenting in terms of technique but turned up alright.
Oh, and I remember saying something about showjumping fences being a pain in the backside. Since then I realized some stock-cliparts are awesome and can go a lomg way when creating different designs!

This was painted six years ago. I had just started a horse breed challenge, meaning I tried to draw as many different breeds as possible. The Fjord horse had a rightful place on that list since I was riding a very fun Fjord horse mare at the time. She was one clever and quick-witted horse, and had her own ideas for sure. Once we met a nordic walker during our hack, and the man hated to see horses use the same trail and claimed we had no right to be there. We, knowing we were allowed to ride on that spesific trail tried to inform him that we had permission granted by the landowner and this man just flipped. Yelling and flinging his nordic walking poles the man tried to spook our horses. What did the intelligent fjord horse do? She stood there for a moment, staring at the man, probably wondering what on earth got into him — and calmly turned around and walked away when I asked her to. We ended up sliding down a heavily forested steep slope to get away from the angry man.
