Hardy has such an interesting face and I wanted the challenge of drawing such an iconic face which was INCREDIBLY DIFFICULT. It only started looking like him when I added the lines on his forehead. So I did Wario! I used a lot of references to make him look as much like the original artwork from the first Wario Land game. This includes the colour schemes and the gradients that were super popular at the time. Wario Land was a game I was absolutely obsessed with as a kid! I liked the idea of Wario entering the Mermay competition and just totally cheating! Sketched with pencil on a sketchpad, then scanned in and drawn over digitally in Photoshop thanks to my screen tablet. I had a lot of fun doing the hair. I've never done black hair before and had to do a lot of research to make it look right. As well as that, I don't think there is any recorded images of Luke Cage smiling. At all.   • When you've got the legs and you've got the dollar, why not combine the two? Here's a piece I did for the supreme drag superstar A$hlee! The typography is something I put in separately as it was something I was most proud of. I used the typography used on a dollar bill and made it just a teeny, tiny bit more bent. There was going to be a simple strike through on the dollar sign, but A$hlee was known back in the day to go on about her amazing legs, so it seemed rather apt to put one her favourite features on there! A cardinal sin has also been committed. An artist has drawn a drag queen... WITHOUT THE LIPS! I love that A$hlee has a beard and wanted to give her an almost superhero look, like Diamond from Powers. I was in two minds about inking the outlines along with the shading (drag is all about blending dear), but A$hlee is pretty much covered in tattoos anyway, so getting rid of the ink outlines seemed wrong to me. With her unique and striking facial features, this was the first sketch I drew of her and I'm quite proud of the finished look of it. There were some colour variations made just to show that the logo has as much versatility as the drag artist, but she chose the main one with the logo. I ended up having to do a lot of research, from Hellboy comics, to video games. In the end, it was Mass Effect 2’s character Grunt which inspired this look the most.
