Today's wedding hangover was totally worth the incredible day we had yesterday. I'm going through their images and we took hundreds of favorites - but this moment? One of the best ever. Ken just broke down in tears watching Liz walk down the aisle toward him, which set off a chain reaction of tears - me, his mom, Liz's parents, all the bridesmaids, and 94% of the guests. 😭 It was the best ceremony moment EVER - awesome capture, @theradrandy 😍 #happilyeverkloeppel #RADweddings @mrkenwk @_elizabethkloeppel
Yeah, I'm sure it does feel super. 🤦🏻♀️ Currently nursing my first wedding hangover of the fall season - totally did NOT drink enough water yesterday, which is SUCH a rookie mistake. 😂 Working on laundry + picking up around the house today ... what are your Sunday plans???
Anyone else jumping for joy that today is Friday? Bueller? BUELLER?! Doubletap? DOUBLETAP!? Oh good, phew. Thought I was alone there for a sec! ;) I wanted to take a sec to say HEY FRIENDS, and share just a few things about me for #fridayintroductions !! 1️⃣ I'm a Cali girl with a Colorado soul. I LOVE the mountains + the snow, and if every day could be about 55*, I'd be totally cool with that. 2️⃣ It's hard to find pictures of me with my current hair color, because it changes. A lot. Sometimes I'm dirty blonde (as pictured), sometimes it's chocolate cherry (like it currently is), + 95% of the time (okay, maybe more like 98% of the time), it doesn't even matter because it's up in a messy bun or rocking a side bride. 3️⃣ We just adopted a sweet not-so-little puppy from our local humane society (bringing our pack back up to four pups), and if I wasn't a wedding photographer I'd probably own a pet rescue with a gazillion dogs. No cats though. Unless they're all black, and all named Salem. 4️⃣ I'm in the midst of revolutionizing my family's health and wellness, and we made the change to eating totally gluten free a few weeks ago and I've never felt better. I was diagnosed with #HashimotosDisease about 18 months ago + if you suffer from that as well, eating gluten free is totally something I recommend! ... And last but not least, 5️⃣ When Randy + I renewed our vows for our 10th anniversary in 2013, everything went to shit. My dad was hospitalized the week before, 75% of the people who RSVPd didn't show up or were totally late because of traffic, thousands of dollars worth of food was thrown away - it was a terrible, terrible experience and one I wish we hadn't done (we could have spent $25k on one hell of a vacation instead!). I've taken THAT experience + poured my heart and soul into EVERY SINGLE WEDDING I've photographed since then. I've bent over backwards and done everything I can to make sure that no one ever feels the way I felt on my wedding day. I want our couples to be surrounded by friends who care + cherish them, + make their wedding day NOT just about taking pretty photos - but an all around experience marrying your best friend. #jminstachallenge
⚠️Stop your scroll. ⚠️ Right now. I want you to do me a favor. Think about something you've been envious about - someone's vacation, someone's new house, someone's new baby, someone's promotion at work. Just stop and think about it. Give them about 4 seconds of your thoughts and time. ... I'll wait. Okay - you done? GOOD. You've given enough of your time and energy feeling inadequate, jealous and not good enough. 🙅🏻 Now: it's time to focus on YOU. Focus on what you're doing in your life that's bringing you joy, bettering yourself as a person, leading to better things. ➡️ Tell me something in your life - be it big or small - that brings you JOY, makes you PROUD or is just plain something you want to celebrate!! #jminstachallenge
Their dads stood in front of them, at the altar handmade by Ryan + his father in the backyard of Emily's childhood home. They spoke with love and pride, of devotion and faith ... and boy, did they speak FAST. The entire ceremony took less than 8 minutes, not sure if it was from nerves or excitement ... but they skipped right over having Ryan + Emily say their handwritten, personalized vows! So after the ceremony, while we were grubbin' on some Korean BBQ tacos out of the taco truck parked out front - Ryan laughed about how they skipped over the whole vows part of their ceremony and Randy turned to me, looked right back at them and said, come on guys, the light is beautiful - let's go somewhere private for you to say your vows to each other. So we walked them down the street that Emily played on as a girl, and Ryan pulled the vows out of his jacket pocket ... and holding each other as that golden California light went down behind them, they recited their vows quietly, just for each other to hear. I have no idea what they said since they were whispering, but what I do remember is the looks on their faces, how Ryan couldn't help but reach out to hold Emily as she made her vows and promises, and how at the end of it - it just felt more special, more intimate. I just loved that.
This is my all-time favorite picture of Sierra. I took it with a cell phone when she was just a couple of days old, back when we lived in Okinawa (Japan) - when cell phone cameras were a totally new concept. 😂 Yesterday this little nugget turned 10 (there's some fun snippets in my InstaStory + on our family account @thedurhamzoo ) and guess what? She still smiles JUST like this. 😍 #thedurhamzoo
We believe in adventuring together. We believe in love at first sight. We believe in the little things. We believe in soul mates. We believe in being silly together. Today is Day 2 of the #jminstachallenge and when I opened up @marymarantz 's email this morning, I gave myself a mental high five. Why? Because we literally have our We Believe In statements right on the front page of our website. And? Every single - literally eveeeery single - couple that we work with embodies these beliefs, too. ❤️ I should probably add in We Believe in Rescuing All the Puppies, We Believe in the Power of Coffee and We Believe in the Radness of Selfies, too! 😂
So, there's a sweet one day Instagram Challenge (hosted by our friends at @nataliefranke , @risingtidesociety + @honeybook ) and we are supposed to share a photo of our workspace or a behind the scenes shot of us at work. Randy + I try to take as many photos as we can of each other behind the scenes, and I've got cuter ones of me but this one popped up in my search and it just made me laugh. We were shooting a wedding at @blackgoldgolfclub last year and they gave us a golf cart to drive around for photo ops but no attendant to drive it ... so I jumped in the drivers seat and off we went! 🙈 I learned how to drive in a golf cart as a kid, but I hadn't driven one in probably 20 years so I couldn't figure out how to get the parking brake released. 😂 Randy snapped this of me totally faking knowing how to drive a golf cart bus, the bridesmaids + our bride @sarah_27_sinclair totally trusting me and me internally going f*#!, how does this shit work?!? 😂😂😂 Thought this was pretty fitting as a metaphor for me in business when we first opened up in 2010 - totally faking it until I got the ball ... err, cart ... rolling. 😂 And for future reference - to take the parking brake off, you just have to punch the gas pedal ... which, ironically, is another perfect metaphor for us in business now - pedal to the metal, all steam ahead, parking brakes are for losers. 😂 So now I wanna see some more behind the scenes shots of some of my friends - @thehearnes @sheblinikkole + @suzannenevillphotography ❤️❤️❤️ #wearethecreativeeconomy
MUSHY POST ALERT. ⚠️ He loves her. She loves him. It sounds simple, and to a degree, it is. But what goes deeper than the simplicity is the meaning: they love to laugh, they love to play, they share secrets, they wink at each other (and sneak in some feelskies 😝 ) when they think no one else is looking. When shit happens, they have each others' backs. They fantasize about their life together, they hustle hard and they chase their dreams with wholehearted passion. They don't take life too seriously, and laugh together at any opportunity (even if it's when he accidentally steps on her feet). They are a team, first and foremost. 🙌 Randy steps on my toes - literally and figuratively. We bicker and we have spats (which can always be diffused with the use of a spatula #gilmoregirlsquotesarelife ) - we don't always agree on what to watch on TV and let's be honest: we can't eat burritos, pizza and burgers for every single meal ... but we can ALWAYS make each other laugh. 😍 I love when couples find us who share these same beliefs as us in marriage and in life. It's something that connects all of the people we work with - no matter who they are, where they are, what they do or anything else. Fall wedding season starts this upcoming weekend, and we're so ready to hang with our friends, cry as they exchange vows, laugh together during toasts, and get down on the dance floor (okay, maybe just me, haha!). We'll be in Los Angeles and Denver, going up mountains and down to the beach - and all with the most incredible people ever. Ahhh, I'm just so stoked! #jminstachallenge #RADweddings
