Some days we hit the ground running with that cartoon cloud of dust billowing behind us and our feet moving to a silly little tune. Other days? We’re vacuuming up spilled Cheerios before we even get started 🤦🏻♀️ . The cubs will have to handle this one because Dad and I are racing to get to his employee interviews, grab enough groceries at Target to tide us over and keep us away from take-out for the next few days and then get back home for a photo shoot for an upcoming brand collaboration (post a 🤗 below if you want me to take you along on my stories today). . How is your Monday morning going? Any chance you have seen my misplaced clones running around? 🤷🏻♀️ Here’s to living on a prayer, friends. It’s pretty much all I got... 🎤Take my hand, we’ll make it I swear. Woah oh, livin’ on a prayer... 🎼
If you have been around here longer than a day you know that he is affectionately known as The Big Guy. He will be the first to play the sensitive card with a sly smile and wink, telling us the name is because of his literal size. . And while, yes. He is the pillar of everything manly from the beard all the way down to the width of his calves, the meaning behind his title is so much more for the rest of us. He loves big, he laughs big and he comforts big. It’s hard to not feel completely at ease and loved in his presence. . Our life is so full of all the things and he handles it like he was made for it. His laid back attitude and patience is unmatched and his inclination to dive in and help where help is needed - from dishes to diapers - is unparalleled, complete with singing and dancing while scrubbing bathrooms. . There is no one who works harder at building a life for his family and fulfilling the dreams we have than him. The kids and I are beyond blessed and we thank the heavens above that he is ours. . Happy Father’s Day to all of the amazing dads doing it right out there! ❤️
My current view 😍 . I used to love taking part in the summer reading challenge at our local library as a kid. I could get lost in a book instantly back in those days. . I wanted to carry on the tradition of summer reading with my kids and nothing will ever beat seeing my oldest reading or the youngers running to me with their favorite pick. Every time a new book arrives on the doorstep, their eyes light up and they can’t wait to add it to the collection on the shelf. Thank goodness for the slower pace of summer and for good old traditional page turning. . What is one of your family’s favorite summer traditions? // #DTEwithKaraLayne #DTESummerChallenge
I think it’s easy in this digital age for us to just snap away from our devices and not think about the long term effect and what we are leaving behind. I mean, think about looking through family photos of your parents and even older - what sticks out the most? . Even in this digital age and with the unlimited space we have, we can curate and collect beautiful and meaningful portraits of our loved ones and everyday life. And I’m sure the generations to come will forever be grateful for the love and care taken in telling our stories. . This and so much more is what you can find in my online and self-paced course, Documenting the Everyday: iPhone Edition. From technical knowledge to training your eye to create those timeless portraits - all right from your smartphone. Kind of incredible what we have available at our fingertips, right? . Click the link in my profile and scroll down to find out more information and to purchase. You will also be added to our private online community where I am always diving in, answering questions, announcing challenges and giveaways and where everyone is able to learn from each other as we all document our everyday story beautifully. I hope to see you there! . And in the meantime, tell me below what your biggest hangup is when it comes to your smartphone photos and I will be making sure and answering them right here on this post. Or, if you have already purchased the course, tell me below what your favorite thing has been so others can get an idea of what to expect 😘
Because summer☀️All of the later evenings with more time to spend together. I mean, we’ve got to squeeze in the sweet and gooey stuff here and there, right? The kind that leave your belly feeling a little stretched but your heart a little full as you all lick your fingers clean in between the goofy sleepy silly grins? . Okay then! Head over to Haus of Layne today to catch one of our favorite desserts for those later evenings spent watching a favorite flick and cuddles on the couch! . What’s your family’s go-to indulgence at home?
Whether it’s taking another big leap, rejoicing in an answered prayer or traipsing through the mud, it always has and always will be you who I want by my side through it all... Monsoon season begins this week here in the desert. And we are doing all of our best dance moves for the rain gods to have the moisture pour down upon us and never stop (totally Sandra Bullock in The Proposal style 😉💃🏻). If you have never experienced a desert monsoon storm, you need to come and visit because it is unlike any other ❤️ I’m giddy just thinking about it. What is your favorite season where you live?
Always whispering sweet nothings into this little one’s ears. Alright, alright... those sweet nothings are more like, “STOP GROWING UP SO FAST BECAUSE YOU’RE BREAKIN’ MY HEART, BOOG!”... Geesh. Mama can’t seem to catch a break these days 😭💔😍 . Alright friends. Friday has graced us with her presence once again and that means it’s time for another round of #FridayIntroductions 💃🏻🙌 Here we go with three random facts... . 1️⃣: I once was on a movie set and it was so cool to see the behind the scenes. If you watch 50 First Dates, just know that I am sitting in a booth somewhere in that cafe just out of sight 😉 P.S. That cafe and the view from it was all from inside an airplane hangar in L.A. 😂 2️⃣: I almost died my junior year of high school. Rushed to the hospital with trouble breathing which turned out to be blood clots (several on my lungs and behind my knee). My teen years and entire life completely changed after that. 3️⃣: I hate massages. Like, I’m a hugger and totally comfortable with physical touch for the most part, but I hate lying there totally silent and being rubbed down by someone that I don’t even know. Totally awkward. It’s also why I don’t get facials 😂 . So friend... tell me: What is one seemingly normal and everyday thing that everyone else seems to be fine with that you can’t stand (kinda like my massage hang up). Be sure and comment below and Happy Friday!! 💃🏻🙌
