Do you eat nuts & seeds? I do! They are packed with nutrients, but did you know that since nuts and seeds contain oils they oxidize if left at room temperature. This means that the oils are damaged, which can promote inflammation and oxidative stress. It's best to store nuts and seeds in air-tight containers in a cool or cold place. (I store mine in the refrigerator in glass containers like these!)⠀ ⠀⠀ I have 2 blog posts on nuts & seeds, so be sure to click the link in my bio to get all the details.⠀ ⠀⠀ Where do you store nuts and seeds? Tell me below!

The crazy looking vegetable I showed you in my stories is a black radish (also known as Spanish radish)! Though not as cute as red, pink, and purple radishes, black radishes have been shown to have FOUR times the amount of glucosinolates, which promote detoxification.💥 Plants are powerful! This was the first time I've tried black radish (the white in this salad). I just peeled the skin and chopped it thinly. They are stronger than other radishes, but with the extra detoxifying power, I'll take it. 🙋🏻⠀ ⠀⠀ Have you ever tried black radishes? Or have you seen them at the store?
Sipping on some #guthealing tea while working on new client assessments! Do you like your matcha, coffee, or tea piping hot?! 🍵 ☕️ Last week in my Facebook group we were chatting about safe beverage containers for hot drinks (which is definitely an important thing to consider), and it reminded me to share this nugget of information with you!⠀ ⠀⠀ Studies have shown that consuming hot foods and beverages is associated with a significantly increased risk of esophageal cancer by causing thermal injury to the esophageal mucosa. These studies define 'hot' as anything above 150F. Hot beverages are often served at 160-185F! 🔥 Just something to keep in mind if you enjoy hot beverages.⠀ ⠀⠀ Have you heard this before or is it new to you?
Made these grain-free banana bread muffins from @bakeritablog this weekend and they were delicious! 🍌🍓 I'm so glad that baking doesn't have to include refined flours, sugars, and inflammatory oils, all of which promote inflammation and burden our body's natural detox system. 🙅🏼 Next time you're in the mood to bake your favorite treat, look up a clean/paleo version and your body will thank you (in the short run and the long run!) 💯 Or, just follow me on Pinterest - I'm always pinning grain-free, dairy-free recipes!
