We were thrilled to host poet Eloisa Amezcua last night in celebration of her gorgeous new collection FROM THE INSIDE QUIETLY. Of Eloisa’s work, Kaveh Akbar says, “Here is a book of poems that is, at every turn, deeply invested in the kinds of love we share—with each other, with ourselves, with our pasts, and with our futures.” For this event, Eloisa was joined by two of our favorite Chicago-based poets Jose Olivarez and Xandria Phillips.
Good morning, Bookstore! The sun is finally making an appearance and fresh new books are being added to our #StaffPicks shelf. Our favorite new releases today include NOT THAT BAD: DISPATCHES FROM RAPE CULTURE edited by Roxane Gay and THE COMEDOWN by Rebekah Frumkin, who will be at our bookstore on April 25 to celebrate her Chicago book launch party #newreleasetuesday
We had such an amazing afternoon hosting the brilliant Cecile Richards in conversation with David Axelrod. On tour for her NYT bestseller MAKE TROUBLE, Cecile talked with David about her history as an organizer and a “troublemaker”. Her advice in these times: “If you’re not scaring yourself, you’re not doing enough.” Thank you to @sennarts for hosting and our photographer @sarahindmarch for capturing this great moment. More photos coming soon! #MakeTrouble #maketroublebook
