✨Teacher Spotlight ✨Meet the funny, lovely and absolutely incredible Abbey Brooks!! Abbey Brooks is a Louisville native with 5 years of yoga teaching experience. Since completing Yoga teacher training in 2013 she has been very present within the Louisville yoga community. Her intention is to create an inclusive environment where students can move freely, feel good and improve their well being both physically and mentally. She believes that above all, humor is an essential ingredient in yoga and in class embodies a playful and lighthearted approach to asana. Abbey's favorite style to practice and teach is vinyasa yoga, she considers yoga to be her creative outlet and loves to play with fun transitions and creative sequences. Her mission is to facilitate growth in her students and to make sure everyone leaves their yoga mat feeling better than when they arrived. Abbey loves to cross train with weightlifting and is always striving to live a balanced life (A pizza today, kale salad tomorrow kind-of approach). She is obsessed with pugs and has two pug babies of her own, Sophie and Rufus, her soul mates. . . . . . . #louisvilleyogis #louisvilleyogacommunity #yogaeverydamday #bendandzenhotyoga #yoga #louisvilleyoga #louisvilleyogateacher
Do you want to know more about chakras and how they fit into the yogic tradition? If so, this workshop is for you! Join us Saturday, October 27 from 4:30-6:30 at the studio! Our bodies house powerful energy centers, known in yogic wisdom, as chakras, or wheels. These are areas where our mind, body, and spirit meet, and our past, present, and future coexist. Each energy center is associated with specific elements, energies, and qualities. Understanding this system gives us tremendous insight into areas in our lives or psyches that may not be flowing optimally. Clearing these energetic fields helps us move through physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual blocks and can help open up our lives in many exciting and powerful ways! Come join us for this empowering, balancing, activating workshop, and experience the opening for yourself! This is all levels friendly, and bringing a notebook, a pen, and a tea cup is encouraged. This workshop includes: 40 minute, chakra-activating yoga practice 10 minute deep healing meditation 60-min immersion on each energy center and how it relates to you! ✨Student Spotlight✨Meet Ilya! In 2011, I had a crazy school schedule! On Wednesday’s I had one 3 hour course at 5:30. I saw that yoga was available. What began as an after thought turned into my favorite class, since all my other classes were engineering related. After 7 years, I finished college & noticed I was out of shape & mentally drained. I wasn’t a fan of running or cardio activities & I was having trouble making it to the gym before close. I remembered how much I enjoyed yoga during college & decided to order some DVD’s. I went from doing them once a week, to not feeling like my day was complete until I completed a video. They were great, but I was doing them by myself and wanted people to do it with. Luckily, my friends Frankie & fellow BZ member Morgan Roberts invited me to a hot yoga class one day. I thought I could handle it, but that first class was extremely difficult. I was able to make it through & remember how great it felt walking outside into a cool breeze right after. I was sold. I have been fortunate enough to have been with BZ from day one. One day, I overheard Abbey Brooks, who I knew from college, talking about yoga. I mentioned that I had taken several classes & she invited me to a class. I walked in & immediately knew it was the right place for me. The studio had a ton of space. The instructors & the people were great. To top it all off, they gave me a frozen towel at the end. I immediately signed up for a $35 for 35 days deal & never looked back. I started out going once a week, but Morgan would push me to go several times a week. Now I try to go as much as I can. I am known to be a very forgetful person. I usually forget at least a towel, mat, or water bottle when I go to yoga. Luckily, they provide all of that there! BZ/Yoga has not only helped me change for the better physically, but mentally as well. After a stressful day I used to take naps & go to happy hours. I still do both, but now I have yoga to even it out. I have stuck with yoga longer than I have stuck with anything else & I plan to do it for the rest of my life. Thank you to the BZ community for being so gracious and providing me with this opportunity.”

✨Student Spotlight ✨ Meet JJ Davidson!! Here is her yoga story: “I found yoga about 5 years ago. I'd beat my body up pretty good with running and all manner of fitness classes. So I found Meredith at my gym, and I loved that yoga made me feel strong and challenged but it didn't hurt. Then I followed her when she opened Bend and Zen, even though I was terrified of hot yoga! And then I grew to love that yoga keeps me strong and limber, that it is good for my heart and the rest of my body, and that I can do a handstand for a few thrilling seconds. And I love that yoga has shown up all over my life and changed how I take on the world. I have learned to quiet my body and my breath. Someday, I might even learn to quiet my mind! But mostly, yoga just makes me happy. And I think we all need more happy in our lives. Namaste.” . . . . . . #louisvilleyogis #louisvilleyogacommunity #yogaeverydamday #bendandzenhotyoga #studentspotlight #bendandzen #yogi #yogini #handstand
