This is me, pretending Monday is just a dream and this beautiful weekend will go on forever! •• What’s the best thing you did all weekend? •• #bouldersbeach #bouldersbeachpenguins #southafricatrip #wildlifephotography #penguinstagram #mondaymotivation (except not really...)
Yesterday marked five years of laughter, adventure, chaos, sweatpants, dog parenting, globetrotting and sheer happiness with my partner in crime, @frankaf17. If a photo’s worth 1,000 words, I think this one sums us up pretty perfectly! ✨ Whether it’s been one month or 60 years, what’s one thing you’ve learned from your life partner? ✨ #travelcouples #kuganha #southafricasafari #inverdoorn #inverdoorngamereserve #glamping #tentedcamp #westerncape
There’s something about a sky this clear and stars this bright that reminds us of our place in the world, in a humbling yet powerful way. ✨ When’s the last time you gazed at stars this clear? (Photo from our recent Costa Rica trip!)
I spy ... a tapir! 🐾 You’ve probably seen the word tapir more on my feed in the past two weeks than perhaps your entire life. By now you also know I’m creating a film about the tapir ... but in the meantime, here are a few things you DON’T know about this amazing animal. 🐾 1) The tapir is nocturnal, but we caught this guy exploring the beaches of Corcovado (scroll for more) 2) Baby tapirs have unique, spotted patterns that have dubbed them the nickname “watermelon” 3) Tapirs are endangered for a variety of reasons, including habitat loss, poaching and trafficking (but with my video work in the coming months, you’ll learn how you can help!!) 🐾 What animal would you most love to see in the wild?
I’m baaaack from a week-long trip documenting the work @naiconservation is doing to help save the tapir population in Costa Rica. I’m so inspired & excited about their work I’ve already started to dive into my 10+ hours of footage... talk about labor of love! 🐾 In the meantime, I’ll give you a few sneak peeks of the Costa Rica trip this week, starting with a Stephanie in her natural habitat — hiking through knee-high waters in the jungles of the Osa peninsula. What’s your favorite “habitat” on vacay?
Raise your hand (er, double click) if you know what a “tapir” is! •• No, it’s not a rhinoceros like the mother-son duo here, BUT it is a relative of the rhino. And the horse. And the zebra. Due to habitat loss and hunting, this incredible animal found throughout Central America’s the rainforests has been named endangered. •• On Tuesday, I’m heading down to Costa Rica for a week to film an awareness-building promo video for @naiconservation, a research & conservation group fighting for the future of the tapir species. •• I’ll be posting lots more on here in the coming weeks, but if you have any questions about the tapir and it’s future, please comment below & I’ll make sure to ask on my trip! (PS— go to photo #2 if you’re curious what the tapir species looks like!)
Holy blizzard!❄️❄️ ••• Even though I slightly hate myself in the moment, I can never let a snow day go by without at least one freezing cold jaunt in it — and today was no different. ••• Perhaps it’s the absolutely silent, snowy streets. Or maybe it’s the fact I promise myself a hot chocolate reward (hot chocolate being code word for 🍷, of course), but there’s something just magical about a blanket of fresh, untouched snow! Although according to the poll on my IG Stories... you guys seem to disagree!? Either way, stay warm everyone!
