I planted these sweet peas far too late in the season last year, but they survived the winter and have flowered over this week! Nature never fails to surprise me. ..... Rather than enjoying the sun this weekend I'm stuck inside with a cold that has made my asthma bad. To top it off I made a major fuck up with my Tacoma sweater that can only be the result of my virus-addled brain. Thinking I was pulling a lifeline out I pulled out a whole length of yarn that was actually part of the sleeve, essentially separating the sleeve from the body right across the front 😨. I was feeling too rubbish for a massive meltdown which was probably for the best as I was able to catch all the stitches and have grafted the sleeve back on using Kitchener stitch. It's still slightly visible (I'll share a picture in stories) but I'm hoping blocking will even out the stitches.... #knittingdisaster
Let's just pop into the bookshop for a browse.... Normal People has been hyped by so many people I almost don't want to read it, but on the other hand what if it actually is as amazing as people are saying?! Don't want them take that chance :-) I'm also hoping for great things from this new book by June Sarpong. Have any of you read it?
Here's to those of us who were told we were shit at sports, to those of us who were picked last in every team sport at school, to those that came last in (almost) every cross country race, despite trying so hard. There is something for everyone, sometimes you just need some self belief and support from those around you to give things a go. This is a massive FUCK YOU to those PE teachers who passed us off, always choosing to support and encourage the popular kids, leaving us floundering on the sidelines. Once again FUCK YOU! I've just cycled the North Wales coast, can deadlift almost double body weight and am so close to those elusive pull-ups thanks to the great team at CrossFit Imperative. Yeah, it's not easy but I think the hardest part is overcoming those mental barriers that are so entrenched from those traumatic days of school physical education, which has taken the best part of 15 years to only begin getting over
Making for makings sake. Why do you create? To de-stress, as your job, to recover and repair? For me, making has evolved. It has always been an antidote to an academic-heavy career, something I used to unwind of an evening. Making then became a way for me to settle myself into a new community when I moved away from home, and then morphed to help support me financially. Now it's all about that handmade wardrobe, which I know is an incredibly privileged position to be in. Sometimes though I just like to make for the sake of making, no end goal, no timeframe, and I like to do this through embroidery. Recently I went to an evening course on creative embroidery with Covet Interiors. It was so so great to just be able to put stitches to cotton completely freely, without much plan or thoughts of the outcome. We were taught ways of combining stitches, and using very basic sewing stitches in new ways. I absolutely loved it. Here is my work so far. For the next hour I'm going to put some tunes on, sip my cuppa and slowly add to this canvas #createeveryday #slowstitches #embroidery #handmadelife
If you go down to the woods today there will be wild garlic.
Sneak peak of my Gothenburg yarn purchase, and the wankiest hot drink I think I've consumed thus far (and I'm a fan of a matcha latte). I would highly recommend Gothenburg for a city break. It's quiet and easy to get around (yay for reliable public transport), there's lots to do, the people are really friendly and helpful and the baked products are 👌plus, for a Scandinavian country it is very affordable. #visitgothenburg #canonphotography #localyarn #realknittersofinstagram #yarnandcoffee
I'm never crocheting amigurumi again..... Until it is a first birthday it seems! Love this monkey (design by @my_amigurumi_farm ) for my cousin's little girls first birthday. Its face has proper character, and is being treated to a trip out in the shopping trolley in this picture! ❤️❤️❤️ Love to see things I've made being played with @lillialeach . . . #crochet #amigurumi #handmadelife #handmadegifts #realcrochetersofinstagram

Pattern is #hitchhikershawl and yarn is dyed by me at a class with @thewoolkitchen . . . Coffee was found at the back of the cupboard of our air BnB. Pretty delicious actually. #realknittersofinstagram #awomanisnoman #wordsbetweenworlds #readacrossinstagram
My first pair of completed socks knit 2 years ago for @peternorris8 who has worn them ever so regularly ever since. He is most definitely someone I'd say was knitworthy ❤️ ----------------- #iamarealknitter #realknittersofinstagram #handmadewardrobe #handknit #handknitsocks
