A bag of jewels. Yarn by @thirdvaultyarns for the Gallery Shawlette. All other projects have been temporarily put aside..... #handknit #handmadewardrobe #indieyarn #realknittersofinstagram
This is a plea to white women still in support of Caitlin Hunter (Boylandknitworks). If you want to show your support do so publicly on your own account. STOP harassing and sending violent messages to BIPOC who asked for accountability for her quite frankly appalling actions. It is not mine, nor your place to decide whether her actions and apology are sufficient for the hurt she has caused.
When you've just finished work for a week but are exhausted and still thinking about what you've probably neglected to do or handover.....which is annoying cos the next week is going to great! #tacomapullover by @harveyknits is having its first outing today (to ADSA of all places). My lovely friends clubbed together and got me vouchers for @countessablaze for my 30th Birthday so it's extra special. Whilst I'm still in denial that summer is over I'm very much looking forward to getting the handknits out.. #realknittersofinstagram #handmadewardrobe #handknit #colourwork
Help please! Looking for a pattern (thinking perhaps a colour work jumper or cardigan) for this yarn. My fab friends got me vouchers from @countessablaze for my 30th Birthday. I have knit a Tacoma by @harveyknits (just realised I still haven't shared a photo) and had some of the light grey and blue leftover. I was back in @countessablaze last weekend and wanted to spend the rest of my voucher so bought another skein of the light grey and one of the dark! Yarn is Gentleman's DK and I love it! It's great to knit with and worked really well for colour work (it's quite sticky). I have approx 300g between the two greys and 60g of the blue (so I reckon just about enough for something without too much ease) Would love to learn of some new designers too! Thank you! Thank you to those of you out demonstrating today- I was meant to be joining you had it not been for a faulty boiler 😨 #countessablaze #realknittersofinstagram
Current bank holiday Sunday view. Thanks @katgoldin and Kevin for the recipe and tutorial. These are an absolute DREAM. Some progress shots and link in my stories. I made these vegan by enriching the dough with marg instead of butter (sorry kat!) and egg replacer. There are some REALLY important conversations happening on Instagram here surrounding veganism. Just because you don't eat meat doesn't mean you are not contributing to deforestation and exploitation and oppression of people growing our food and losing their land and habitats. Our vegan favourites, avocados, cashews are some of the biggest culprits. We've all got to do better. Not eating meat does not absolve us. Human rights over animal rights.

My week as a flat lay (obviously crisps and wine played a big part too but wine has all been drunk and the last crisps spilled out all over the car). Finished my @thecrochetproj #sosmcal in the car. It just needs a block and will be ready for the heatwave due to hit in the next couple of days! I also made significant progress on my Brioche on the Beach shawl by @eastlondonknit if you remember it had been in the naughty corner for 6 months. I'm now adding lifelines every 12 rows or so and whilst I'm knitting on it I've been concentrating fully. So far so good, and I think I'm starting to get into the rhythm of it. Pachinko spans multiple generations of a Korean family living in Japan and I'd highly recommend it. A Little Life.....well, I think if you are feeling strong enough you'll just have to read it... Holiday photos were taken on my partner's granddad's old film SLR camera. Fingers crossed they come out!! #thecrochetproject #briocheonthebeach #bookishknitter
Posting photos of my knitting WIPs, garden etc has seemed trivial when members of our knitting community are under attack and even receiving death threats purely for calling out unacceptable, racist, dangerous behaviours and words, and for speaking their truth of racist behaviours they have subjected to. I'm not great at articulating my thoughts, so here follows a bit of a ramble. I've been horrified by the actions of Sockmatician, a prominent figure in the knitting community as I'm sure many of you are. This is not a time to be complacent. Supporters of Sockmatician have been calling for him and his husband to compile a list of those who had called out their behaviour. This is terrifying. When BIPOC, or BAME people say that words or a behaviour is racist, we've gotta believe them as who the hell are we to make that judgement call. We've got to believe them regardless of how this message reaches us, whether calm and with absolute clarity or with downright rage. It's not enough to not be racist, we need to be anti-racist and part of this is understanding where we are upholding the ideals of the white supremacist society we live in. Where Change Started posted about how white people are given the benefit of the doubt, in general in society, and where anti-racist work is concerned so not only have we got a lot of work to do to make this community safer, we've got to share our learning, swap resources, and put this learning into action. If anyone has any great resources please share, and I'll do the same.
Weekends at the moment are for @thecrochetproj #sosmcal here is my progress so far. Maybe not colours that I would choose for myself if I bought the yarn now, but this project has been great for using up bits of yarn I'd otherwise not had a use for. I've never managed to keep up with crochet- and knit-a-longs......too much pressure, too many mistakes (mine not the pattern) but this has been a dream so far. Who else is crocheting along? #thecrochetproject #realcrochetersofinstagram #handmadelife #createeveryday
