Celebrating a new year of life today and this pretty much sums up what the last year has held: a lot of caffeine, adventure, and a little mystery. This year I learned that people and relationships are the only things that matter in light of eternity. And, less importantly, that I really like steak. (Who knew?!) Friends, thank you for being a part of my life! It is richer because of you.
My two main hobbies are baking cakes and driving around neighborhoods and looking up the “for sale” homes online. (Is that creepy? Please tell me I’m not the only one. 😂) Anyways, it’s my birthday weekend and it’s the perfect excuse to make my signature confetti cake! 🎉
If I wasn’t already a believer in miracles, the fact that we had this piece of the Brooklyn Bridge to ourselves for 1/1000 of a second (with some strategic “body blocking”) would have made me one. #NYC #brooklynbridge
I cannot believe that I get to co-host a styled dinner here!!! (I wish I could show you the bistro lights in the back!) It literally feels like it's straight out of the cover of Southern Living. I don't share about it much on here, but a huge part of my heart is getting to connect with and mentor young creative women. (And they sure teach me a lot too!) When my friends at one of my favorite non-profits @delightandbe asked if I could co-host and speak at their Dinner & Delight event, I WAS SO DOWN. It's going to be in Chapel Hill, North Carolina on the evening of July 13th, and you can DM me your email to get all the details! Venue & PC: @theparlourchapel
I started my business at 16, in between high school classes and evening shifts at Chick-fil-A. (The reason why “my pleasure” is still in my vocabulary and why I’m a recovering waffle fry addict.) I’m now in my early twenties, but occasionally still get a tad self-conscious about my age, even though my clients have been unbelievably supportive in every season. (I often joke that my real age is 60 year old dad. 😂) But... I recently had a few lightbulb moments, when at my last two workshops, several AMAZING women ranging from teenager to fifty-something told me that they struggled with the exact same “age self-consciousness” that I did! So I just wanted to take a sec and encourage my young — and young at heart— friends on here. You can do big, scary, great things at ANY age. Often, our fear and self-consciousness hold us back much more than the expectations other people place on the birthday on our driver’s license. Or learner’s permit, as was my case when I first started out. 😂
Taken minutes before the sky opened and started pouring the rain. Matt and Lindsay’s day was pure joy... from their handwritten vows to the most beautiful doughnut cake I’ve ever witnessed at their reception. Congrats you two! ❤️
