There are quilt books and then there is English Paper Piecing by @flossieteacakes . Rarely is a quilt book so readable and with some fascinating, fully-referenced, evidence-based research on Flow. That state of total immersion in a project that leaves no spare brain power to worry about other things. Now proven to reduce blood pressure & heart rate & increase serotonin levels, hand-sewing should be available on prescription! My thoughts over on the scribbles today, link in bio. #epp #englishpaperpiecing #patchwork
And again. Back to the West Dart. Getting the hang of this & starting to look at a pool and think ‘swim’. Half an hour of floaty, swimmy, wallowy stuff & not another soul to be seen. Having walked out on Dartmoor a day a week for the last three years, & talked so often about doing this, my Walking Friend and I (we go back forty years & godmother each other’s sons) rate this as our bravest & best adventure to date. Clearly it’s never too late to take the plunge. #wildswimming #outdoorswimming #dartmoor #riverdart
UFO 2 : an A4 journal quilt entry. The view of the blossom through the windows of the deserted nurses’ home at Queen Mary’s Hospital, Hanmer Springs (pic 2) has become one of the abiding images of my last trip to New Zealand. I came across a small practice square of Liberty colourwash that I had pieced & quilted at least thirty years ago. I overlaid a whole piece of black fabric and then cut away the windows and appliquéd (pic 3) while listening to the Proms. #libertyscrapchallenge #journalquilt
Year on year the oak leaves are blighted by mildew very early in the summer. Look at them this year...
