These Nutty Dark Chocolate Bars I made for @nioxin are a great snack on the go AND they are loaded with biotin, zinc and iron to support a healthy scalp and hair! Biotin helps keep the hair thick and healthy, zinc is involved in hair growth while iron helps hair grow faster and longer. You can get the recipe here: www.nioxin.com. Another easy way to get all these vitamins is to add a supplement to your diet, such as @Nioxin’s Recharging Complex, which contains all the vitamins you need to help your hair look fuller.
August is national Hair Loss Awareness Month, and I am partnering with @nioxin to encourage a holistic approach to hair health, taking care of our mind, body and hair from the inside out. Certain nutrient deficiencies can lead to thin, slow-growing, lackluster hair. To ensure you are getting the essential nutrients for healthy-growing hair, @nioxin has launched Recharging Complex supplements that contain zinc, biotin and iron in a once-a-day tablet. To celebrate, I’ve created 3 delicious recipes that include hair-boosting nutrients, including my morning Power Scramble, a roasted rainbow veggie bowl, and a nutty dark chocolate bar. How to prevent and reverse heart disease ❤️ Update on my Mom Part II❤️ 🔸 7 weeks ago, my mom’s doc told her she could have a stroke any day, and diagnosed her with super high blood pressure and A Fib. 🔸 Heart disease is #1 killer globally. And it is largely preventable and mostly reversible through diet + lifestyle changes. 🔸 Here are the main changes that have been scientifically proven to work: 🔸A whole food plant-centric diet 🔸cutting out sugar (yes sugar!) and refined grains like bread, pasta, etc. 🔸eating the right amount of salt (which is not 0 btw -both high sodium AND low sodium diets increase risk of heart disease) 🔸daily movement / exercise (30 minutes a day of walking is sufficient) 🔸managing your stress and keeping it low 🔸surrounding yourself with people who love and support you 🔸maintaining a healthy weight 🔸 Since that initial doctors visit, my mom decided to drastically change her diet and lifestyle. I made meal plan for her based on principles of Dr Dean Ornish and Dr William Davis program. In addition to the above she: 🔸 cut out all gluten and grains (which may contribute to AFib amongst other issues) 🔸started meditating daily 🔸started practicing deep breathing for 10 minutes a day to help with stress 🔸repeating positive affirmations 🔸she is taking blood pressure medication and blood thinner. 🔸 Results: - Lost 13 pounds - Beats per minute 150 ➡️ 80 - Blood pressure 175/100 ➡️ 113/78 - also her chronic back pain and chronic digestive issues disappeared. 🔸 I have never seen my mom so committed to her self-care! 🔸 At first it was hard - she missed all her comfort foods and is not fond of many vegetables, she disliked exercise, and she never meditated a day in her life, but now she has apps and favorite videos on YouTube, she loves walking and the affirmations, and she is learning to love more and more veggies. 🔸 No matter where you are, it’s never too late to start. ❤️
Heart disease is the number one cause of death globally, but it doesn't have to be that way. @drjkahn shares how a plant-based diet and healthy lifestyle can not only prevent, but even reverse heart disease. 🔸 Check out the latest episode on my Happier & Healthier Podcast on iTunes, Spotify, or Stitcher.
