I grew up eating traditional sliced white bread, didn’t even know what sourdough was until I researched it. When I was younger, I enjoyed soft, sweet & fluffy white bread (the fluffier the better) from my grandparent’s bakery or grocery store | Though until recently, I discovered the benefits & obsessed with all things fermented with ‘starter culture’ from pickles, sauerkraut to kimchi, kombucha and now #sourdough | so please don’t call me the coming weekends, 🤣 cuz I’ll be very busy experimenting baking with natural yeast, it takes a whole day! But I still love sliced white bread, it’s the best thing! 🍞❤️
Okra, an often overlooked + underrated vegetable (you should absolutely be eating) but not in our home, it’s our staple food that we grew up eating on a daily basis, hmm~ at least once or twice a week. It’s affordable locally-grown vegetable, low carb, with plenty of nutritional & antioxidant components, high in vitamins & it could even help with skin conditions too! I had pan-seared okra with a little bit of olive oil this morning, simple and pretty darn delicious! 🎈✨🎈✨
I’m in love with sautéed baby bell peppers lately, slightly charred & caramelized giving it a little sweetness yet still retain the delicious crisp~ beating the Monday blues with these feel good foods! 🍒✨🍒✨
It’s Dumpling Festival (Dragon Boat Festival) next Monday and my mom is in town, she taught me exactly how she make + wrap the most delicious Chinese glutinous rice dumplings & also what she did that made the taste difference by using a ‘magic’ ingredient + technique! | It’s been so long since I have eaten homemade dumpling, I never purchase #bakchang from outside stores, only eat what my mom made; and here’s my savory teatime treat #nomnom #nomnomnom 😋
I strongly agree that eating a hearty #breakfast will give you positive energy & start the day with good vibes; not only that, eating a well-balanced breakfast also have major health impacts because our body absorbs nutrients & digest well in the morning. So! Try not to skip breakfast ya & be good today! 💚
What did you eat for breakfast this morning? 🌞 I have been enjoying a lot making breakfast lately, and trying to add in more ‘good carbs + fiber’ into my diet (especially in the breakfast, I find that it’s the easiest meal to be veggie), the big breakfast is going to keep me full till lunch without snacking in between meals! I have butter corn kernels + grated carrot salad + scrambled eggs + 🥑 lemon & salt in my plate today 💚 have a great Monday all!
Had to record my breakfast spread from this morning, that kind of keeps me motivated + stay inspired to eat healthy everyday, also to implement a more mindful eating style 💚🌽💚🌽
This pretty little #kabocha squash (Japanese pumpkin, almost 1kg) smiled & waved at me just now while I was doing some grocery shopping | I knew instantly ‘he’ was the one and has to come home with me 😏 if you haven’t tried it yet, you’re going to want to! | It tastes sweeter than the usual pumpkin, fluffy texture like chestnut, if you love sweet potato then kabocha will quickly become your new bff! 🎃 Oh~ my mind is full of ideas now on how to cook with ‘him’ 😏 !
Hello, looks like it’s gonna rain soon; rainy-holidays are the perfect excuse to binge on snacks, cookies, chocolate & chips + watch my favorite tv show on BBC Lifestyle all day | so simple lunch today : steamed shrimp & chives dumplings 🥟 + cold cucumber salad 🥗 | have a lovely day friends ❤️
