A useful trick is to make drinking coffee substitutes an enjoyable experience, very much what you would do with your regular coffee. I am convinced that to many of us the major driving force behind drinking coffee is very much a matter of habit (smell, sentiments, emotions, socialising), not the “energy kick” itself.
