Always stay a student 😊 I'm enjoying learning new skills from my own vocal coach. Yes, coaches learn from coaches, and teachers do need teachers- or at least benefit from them. The education never ends, which is what makes your journey so exciting. Just remember to implement what you're learning so you don't forget it. 2019 is nearly upon us and many of us will have big plans and goals for the new year. Ignite that fire in your belly, but before you do, allow yourself a quiet 10 minutes ( or more if you can) to write down everything you've achieved this year. I did this myself a couple of days ago and was surprised how many times I'd put myself out there this year and leapt into the unknown. Hey singers! Have you heard of the 4 stages of learning? First you have ' unconscious incompetence' where you're a complete beginner but oblivious ( as seen on early rounds of talent shows to get a cheap laugh- so unnecessary, but that's a different post! ) Then you have 'concious incompetence' which is when you're aware of the skills you lack. This is often the most painful stage, but it's vital and can't be skipped. Keep showing up for yourself and practicing consistently and 'conscious competence' follows, where we are capable (but need to concentrate!) As we cement these skills through repetition, we enter the unconscious competence phase, where we no longer need to think about it. Then we start the process all over again when we develop a new skill....😉
