The next day....
Zoe’s favorite book lately.
I never take selfies. And I say that every time I take a selfie. But really, I rarely think to take them. So when I finally remember, the reason I GIVE IN is for my kids. So that someday they’ll have pictures of what I once looked like. Obviously there’ll be no shortage of how I wrote and what an amazing attitude I had, and how fabulous my voice was (my writing voice, but also, yeah, I have a spectacularly deep voice, “The name’s lady.”), boy, my voice—that was crazy good and witty and funny and clever. Right? So they’ll always recall those things: my writing voice and my other amazing qualities, like my intellect (which is fading, because I’m so OLD). Hahahahaha. But my dimple? Maybe not. And my crazy vast forehead? Hmmm. But look: my eyes are like two. . . greenish crystals caught in a sunbeam. And my frabjous hipster frames? Never. Ever. Forget them. Clearly wasn’t satisfied with any of these so I posted all of them! The best part is my adorbs kids in the background modeling for my BIL. #selfie #selfieapologetics #selfieapologies #antelopeisland
In case you want to do some grillin’ while you’re campin’ at the most uncomfortable campsite ever developed. This one comes with a grill thirty feet from the pad, just over a pile of brutal rock formations—it’s a gauntlet. How bad do you want those hot dogs? But hey, it’s almost on the beach! Please, no flames or heat of any kind lest you start a fire. Enjoy! #antelopeisland
Can’t believe I never shared this! Corbet is the sweetest kid. I love how smug he looks, like he knows how awesome and gentle he’s being with his younger cousins! Again, I am at a loss for why there is no heart-exploding emoji. So heart-breaking emoji 💔 will have to do. ~circa June 2017 at Gailey Park
Camping in AF canyon. A bit ago. I’m doing this for posterity. And also the photo book. Better late than never!
