More #treehouse progress today. Jon’s been out there working in this gazillion degree temperature heat all afternoon. He’s a treehouse rockstar.

Okay, how cute is this? I just found them resting this way on Leo’s bed. I think Leo is really going to miss Oliver when our puppysitting stint is over #greatpyrenees #greatpyreneesofinstagram

Leo’s not entirely sure what he thinks of having a super energetic pupster around. They play together but 10.5 year old Leo really just can’t keep up. I’ll be taking Leo to the vet this morning to find out whether this new growth is another tumor :-(
Charlotte at a #ghosttown in #Idaho I hope it’s not the same one that the #bradybunch visited
We picked up @janegranju’s 5 month old puppy Oliver today and we are now officially puppysitting. Oliver is honestly the best behaved 5 month old puppy that I’ve ever met. Jane left me with a long list of instructions for how to care for Oliver so we will try to stick to her schedule. Isn’t he cute? #shelterdogsofinstagram #shelterdog

Big sister/little sister @janegranju Today is Georgia’s 8th birthday!!
I can’t believe that this little pumpkin, who only weighed 4.5 pounds when we brought her home, will be 8 years old tomorrow.
Tomorrow my birthday girl will be EIGHT!!
Henry very happy with his Christmas guitar :-)
Choosing photos for birthday blog post I want to write for Georgia I ran across this photo of Charlotte around the time Georgia was born. She sure was cute.

This is my sunflower patch right now. I love it. I didn’t plant one single flower. These are all “volunteer” sunflowers from the birds that come to my feeders each day. #sunflowerfield #birdwatching
Do you know what “gaslighting” is? It’s “a form of psychological manipulation that seeks to sow seeds of doubt in a targeted individual or in members of a targeted group, making them question their own memory, perception, and sanity. Using persistent denial, misdirection, contradiction, and lying, it attempts to destabilize the target and delegitimize the target's belief.” Donald #Trump is attempting to gaslight us with respect to separating families at the southern U.S. border and placing children as young as infants in giant refugee camps. His gaslighting comes in the form of repeatedly blaming the #Democrats for this travesty. He could make it stop with a single phone call. #refugees #immigration #concentrationcamp #asylum #singlephonecall
@eleanort2 is the best cousin in the world. First tonight, she took Georgia, Nancy & Charlotte for one dollar tacos at Amigos. Then she took them bowling at Fountain City Lanes. Then she took them to Target for popcorn and slime-making supplies. To say that the girls had an awesome night would be quite an understatement.
Another plug here for the dog medicine, Rimadyl. Leo was first given Rimadyl as a pain reliever (I think it’s an anti inflammatory like Motrin for dogs) after his cancer tumor removal. Then @autumncowans prescribed it for him for his general old guy stiffness. He takes it twice a day now and WOW what a difference! He runs, he even GALUMPHS, and he doesn’t grunt half as much when getting up and down. We love this stuff and would highly recommend it to anyone with a middle aged or older dog who is getting a little slower getting around. It’s kind of like a dog miracle. #greatpyrenees #greatpyreneesofinstagram #dogsofinstagram
Look how much my 7 year old, Georgia looks like her great grandmother, Nancy at around the same age. Georgia also sits and crosses her legs in the exact same, unique way that her great grandmother did. Genes are somethin’

Today there was a book sale at the Sevier County Public Library and grandmother Janice let each of the cousins pick out a book or two. This is what Charlotte brought home.
It’s only about 70 degrees out here tonight and the sliver of the moon + the stars are extra bright. It’s very calming to sit out here at the moment. #easttennessee #farmlife #porches

Anyone interested in a beautiful young #greatpyreneesrescue located in middle TN? He’s gorgeous and has lovely manners. My mom frequently sends me photos from Facebook’s Timehop feature. Today she sent me this one of Charlotte when she was only 3 or 4 years old and it made me freak out even more than I already am freaking out that she’s starting middle school this fall.

So cool to see Georgia playing with the same Breyer horses that I played with when I was a little girl, and which were then played with by Georgia’s big sister @janegranju when she was a little girl. And now 7 year old G is playing some sort of game with them this morning that involves Barbies, trolls and a major horseshow. #handmedowntoys #breyerhorses #horsecrazygirls
What looks like a giant mass of weeds at the moment is actually a giant mass of sunflowers and roses just about to burst into bloom. And once again this year, I didnt plant a single sunflower; the birds at my feeders have done all the planting for me. #tennessee #sunflowers #cottagegarden #roses #birdfeeders
Cousin @eleanort2 giving Charley a piggy back up to her cabin on her first day at @gracepointcamp
@nancycatsings & cousin Charlotte on their first day of sleep away camp at @gracepointcamp yesterday. It’s hard to believe that Charley is actually one month older than Nancy but happens to be more than a head shorter. Nancy is going to be one TALL girl - taller, even than her big sister @eleanort2 , who is at least 5’9”
Cousins and camp besties. They’re only 4 weeks apart in age but look how much taller @nancycatsings is than Charlotte.

Another one from Georgia’s dance recital. You can usually pick Georgia out of any dance photo because she’s almost always the shortest dancer for her age in the troupe.
Georgia’s dance recital weekend before last. She’s the little girl with bobbed hair, second from right.
Charley is so excited to leave for Grace Point Episcopal Camp today! @nancycatsings is going too. The two cousins have gone to camp together for the past 3 years.
Henry Louis Granju. He was only a boy when he left us on this date - my beautiful Peter Pan of a child who soared above us all to join the stars. On certain nights, when I look up into the inky sky, I see him twinkling down at me to let me know that this was the plan that the cosmos had for him all along, and his bright, neverending light overhead helps me to understand that one day, we will twinkle together.
You can do many things at the library!
Henry, shortly before we lost him. I loved that smile from the first time he showed it to me at only a few weeks old.
This photo marks the last time Henry was ever able to see the sunlight. This was taken outside of St. Mary’s neurological rehabilitation unit, where he had been sent after two weeks in critical care at the University of Tennessee Medical Center, where he’d made it through what we thought was the worst part of his hypoxic brain injury. He was sent to St.Mary’s to begin speech, occupational and physical therapy. We were busy looking at longer term rehabilitation brain trauma programs for him at Patricia Neal Center and the Shepherd Center when he almost inexplicably began deteriorating again. Soon, he had to be moved back to the ICU at UT, where he was diagnosed with a rare condition called delayed post-hypoxic leukoencephalopathy. With this condition, after hypoxic brain injuries like Henry suffered from the beating and many hours of overdosing with no help, the patient may improve for a period of time before the myelin sheaths that protect their brain neurons begin to disintegrate. This is what happened to Henry. But on the day this photo was taken, we were so hopeful that he was going to get better, and the spring weather was lovely, and he really wanted to go outside, and so we did. And he was so happy. #grief #childloss #bereavement #overdoseawareness
He beat everyone from 1st through 5th grade in his school (he was only 8 at the time) to win his school spelling bee, automatically sending him on to compete in the countywide bee. When we explained to him that his school wide win meant that he would progress to the County bee, our extremely NON-competitive child (he won the school bee not out of any competitive spirit but simply because he spelled really well), he told us that he didn’t want to represent his school by competing in the Countywide bee and that if we insisted that he participate, he’d spell his first word wrong on purpose so he could sit down. We didn’t really believe him, and so for better or worse, we tried to get him all psyched up, we bought him a new little coat and tie, and we insisted that he do the countywide bee (in hindsight, this is was definitely for worse. What kind of terrible parent makes her 8 year old compete in a spelling bee in front of hundreds of people when he’s told you that doesn’t want to?) Anyway, he did exactly what he said he’d do. When they called his name, he calmly walked to the podium and purposely misspelled “Europe,” a word he would have had no trouble spelling at any other time. But he wanted to misspell his way out of the county spelling bee as quickly as possible, and so he did. That was Henry ;-) #grief #childloss #bereavement #henrygranju

Here’s a shot of Henry after he made it out of the first critical phase after his injury and had been moved to the hospital rehabilitation unit, but before he began experiencing worsening symptoms again. He wanted so much to be able to play his guitar again. I adored that child’s smile. #grief #childloss #bereavement #guitar #henrygranju
