Now I know why a local told me the only reason people lock their doors around here is so neighbors don't come in when you're gone to give away zucchini... The squash is doing great! Some tomato plants are looking pretty good but overall, our garden is underwhelming. Chicken coop is almost there though!
Chicken coop is just about done! When you have the opportunity to get some help from the living Lovrin Logos legend himself, you take it! A day doesn't go by without me feeling grateful to have this mans guidance; as an example as to what a real man, husband, and father is. Love, logic, honesty, hard work, humility, compassion, and common sense are a few ways I'd describe him. If you don't have one of your own, you should really try becoming one or finding one to have a family with... You will leave the world a better place starting from within. #logoslegend #loveandlogic #fatherlikeson #lovrinlegacy #raisearoof #tangibleskillsaretherealworldcurrency

Anyone have an idea what this is??? I know it's an alien, but what kind?
Six snakes in one day smh... That must explain why I haven't seen a single rodent other than a few mice that got their necks snapped for entering the house uninvited (something to think about). As much as I'd like to not see any snakes AT ALL, I get that they contribute to the homestead, and therefore don't deserve to die... As long as they stay away from other contributers here. Eventually, I'm gonna channel my inner Steve Irwin, grab one by the tail, and make it my bitch. Right now I'm the bitch...
Yes, I speak their language... I have a good ear. Don't let Hollywood and urban snobs fool you- the redneck life isn't easy but it's a damn good time! Simple life my ass!

Between it raining 75% of the time, and getting freelance work down in the devils den more than normal, the coop has taken way longer than I hoped or anticipated, but no chickens were lost, and bills are paid so ales gut! 👍 Still plenty of work to do for the coop to be complete, but at least it's predator and waterproofed, and the chickens are doing much better than they were in the brooder a day ago. Still have to figure out what I'll do for the ducks because of what a mess they make but there's a good chance they're gonna end up in the coop with the chickens despite both species preferring a segregated life even amongst the different chicken breeds, but with the right amenities like entertainment, high calorie diet, illusion of freedom- this farmer is determined to convince his livestock that it's best for all.
So, this brooder was a quick temporary solution to fast growing chickens who didn't yet have an actual coop to move into. It was great until the Cornish cross meat birds grew to be 4x the size as the Rhode Island Reds along with three ducks that were given to us which are terribly filthy foul fowl albeit cute. Fortunately Cosmo doesn't want to kill any of them but I am a little concerned by the fact he's a lil intimated by harmless birds every carnivorous animal in the Catskills wants to eat. Hopefully they become buddies and he protects them without having to get in any confrontations himself 🤷♂️🙏 I'm thinking it isn't a coincidence I started seeing snakes in there barn on a daily basis since putting them in there 😬 Fortunately, the chicken coop has been closed and sealed, and the chickens we're transferred there yesterday without any casualties. Might have to get new chickies so this thing isn't just wasting space.
