🍊 Listening to my body and enjoying a variety of fruit lately! Fruit is a tricky one... It’s packed with water, vitamins, minerals and even some fiber so it’s a healthy, nutrient-dense way to appease your sweet tooth. However, it’s important to remember that your body can only handle so much fructose at a time, otherwise your body (and hormones) will go on a blood sugar roller coaster! Finding the perfect balance for you is the goal 🍑 I barely ate any fruit for a couple of years while eating super low carb, but I’ve eased up on that quite a bit! I’m incorporating a variety of fruit *in moderation*, and am feeling very balanced right now. A typical day of fruit for me looks like 1/4-1/3 cup of frozen fruit in a smoothie or coconut yogurt bowl, or eating something like a small-medium orange, pear or peach in the morning paired with other foods that provide protein and healthy fats. What’s your philosophy on fruit? And what are some of your favorites?? I love berries for their fiber content and antioxidants! I want to add that I get most of my nutrition guidance from @bewellbykelly and @emilycoxwellness 🤎
I have an extra appreciation for pretty dresses these days, even if I mostly wear them at home 🤎 Love this chic linen dress thanks to @lulus! #lulusambassador #lovelulus
This year I’ve leaned into a simpler approach with my wardrobe and with the foods I eat. There’s something beautiful about simplifying your closet to only contain pieces you love and have thoughtfully curated. This linen dress from @darcyapparel’s in-house collection is one of those special pieces 🤍 The collection was designed by Darcy and manufactured ethically and in small batches. I love that the natural linen will only get better with age too, making it a lifelong piece. You can use code JACY15 for 15% off the collection 〰️ Along the lines of simplicity, you can find this beautiful summer salad recipe with a clean homemade dressing over on jacylenore.com 🍅
Grocery shopping mood 🥬 I love grocery shopping & meal planning on Sundays to set up the new week on a healthy note! It helps me to feel organized and prepared, and makes a huge difference in how healthy I eat. PS - I get most of my fresh groceries from Aldi! I save a lot of money shopping there and they even have a lot of organic options 🙌🏼 PSS - WEAR YOUR MASK.
Happy Juneteenth! Happy Freedom Day! 🤎🖤❤️ I have to be honest with you. This is my first year knowing about and celebrating this important day. I, like many of us, learned a whitewashed and incomplete history, then didn’t put in the work to look outside of my bubble of privilege. I’m ashamed by this while simultaneously feeling grateful to be learning so much and to be starting a new chapter of my life. A chapter where Juneteenth will be a day my future family talks about and celebrates. 2020 is indeed a pivotal year. Please join me today in learning more about Juneteenth, and supporting Black businesses, authors, activists, artists, influencers and community members. Visit my stories for some posts about Juneteenth, as well as to sign 93-year-old activist Opal Lee’s petition to make it a national holiday. Juneteenth should be *the* Freedom Day. It is my hope that we will be celebrating it as a national holiday as soon as next summer. “Nobody is free until everybody is free.”
