Yoga is hard and you can do hard things. Inspired by a recent post from a most insightful yogi who we ❤️ @ayla we want to confirm yoga is not easy. It is because it challenges you on all levels that it changes you on all levels. It is no coincidence that we bring our hands together in prayer at the beginning of class. In this gesture we both acknowledge our inner power and ask for it to guide us through the challenges we are about to face in or practice. Challenges our body will come up against in strength, flexibility, endurance and balance. Challenges our mind will come up against in fatigue, self doubt and negative talk. Challenges our soul will face in the quest to see through the surface of what looks like struggle and into the truth of witnessing its own personal revolution. We close class in the same way acknowledging everyone in the room for having the courage to come up against their own individual challenges in our group effort to become our best selves. 📸 @aprilloyle
Self-care rituals are part of a holistic yoga practice, specifically in the study of Ayurveda. Last week in teacher training we were immersed in reflection of who we are being and who we want to be. In one of the workshops I wrote a eulogy from the perspective of my daughter in which she reflected on how well of an example I set in my own practices of self-care. This was my future Self. My current Self is in the processes of aligning with my future Self. Feeling inspired and hopeful for spring, this week I began to implement some of the self-care practices that I identified this winter through journaling that will support what I want to cultivate in my being this year. Adding affirmations to your routine can also take the mundane to beautifully reverent. Hydration is number 5 on my list. I have always had a hard time drinking water so I have added a cold-pressed juice to my daily routine and started adding lemons to my water to help me drink more throughout the day. Hydration is the element of water, without it nothing flows. Pun intended, without water, we feel drained. Scientifically water is a great conductor of electricity and the same is true for our own energy. The last part of my hydration ritual is remembering the miracle it is to have water! As I fill my water bottle I think to myself a zen saying, Water flows from high in the mountains. Water runs deep in the Earth. Miraculously, water comes to us and sustains all life. Check out the new blog post with the five practices I have set the intention to maintain and how to add reverence to what may seem routine. if you’re interested in cold-pressed juices, juice cleanses and health promoting lemonades check out @pressnco inside @foamcoffee and lemonades stocked in our fridges @glowyoga Link to blog in bio 👆 📸 @aprilloyle
The goal of a yoga practice is not for individual enlightenment. It is a path that encourages us to walk together in peace, live together in peace and work together in peace. TOGETHER. Together we weave our unique gifts into an unbreakable thread of community that supports guides all of our paths in love. Thank you so much to everyone this past week who supported our yoga teachers in making their advanced training a possibility. We are so energized to share with passion all we have learned and hope to inspire you to great things in your practices! ❤️ To all the yogis who practiced this past week in Gulf Shores we thank you for sharing tightly packed studios with each other and you can look forward to more space and more even more powerful classes! ❤️ To all our glow getter staff who helped keep the studios running smoothly and subbing extra classes so your peers could follow their dharma. ❤️ To our mentor and teacher who lives her practice authentically, Johnna yoga thank you for spending your week with us pouring your gifts into our cups. ❤️And to all the participants who made space in their lives to dedicate a week to diving deeper into the studies they know change their lives so profoundly they feel compelled to share them with the world. ❤️ #yogateacher #yogateachertraining #community #glowgetter #onelove #together
“I do not want liberation until I can bring everyone with me.” This is the vow of the boddhisattva. This is a vow our soul often takes as we become yoga teachers.
After a beautiful and fiery physical practice led by the courageous @jspec8129 we are tending to the fire inside. Sometimes action looks like doing the work of sitting down and asking yourself the questions your soul wants answers to. We’re so inspired by these women in #teachertraining who are doing the work going deeper into the koshas or layers through the physical, energetic, mental to access the layers where our inner wisdom resides and bliss awaits!
