If I had to guess, I would say that editing skills are the most common skill that gets overlooked when first beginning your photography business. You may not edit each image the same way, trying all these different presets and actions until you get the look you want. Because let’s be honest, you’re not quite sure how to get the look on your own. And then, eventually, over time, you begin to realize how important consistency is; how important it is to represent your brand well through your editing style. • There was a point when I became obsessed with learning Lightroom. I was creating my own presets as baselines for my pictures. And then I loved it so much, that I decided to start editing for other people. So when my husband and I went on the road as full-time RVers, I had a full-time business as a private photo editor for wedding photographers. • Consistency is key, and I take pride in being able to provide that for my clients. Wedding photographers use second shooters (assistant shooters) a lot of the time, and their images are sometimes vastly different from those of the primary photographer’s. It’s my job to know how to use Lightroom well in order to manipulate each image so that you can’t tell the difference between the two. • Scroll through to see a couple of my most recent #beforeandafter favorites! The left side is the second shooter, the right is the primary photographer.
Senior year comes along with so many emotions. You’re busy looking to your future, making all the plans, smashing goals, and enjoying life to its fullest. Your senior photos should be a way to make time stand still for just a day. To celebrate you, your accomplishments, and your future plans. This time deserves to be immortalized through images scattered on your walls and sitting on your coffee tables. Don’t blink...because this season in your life will be over before you can say “graduation.”
Today’s #tbt comes to you from the most beautiful sunrise and sunset of our trip last year. Many of you may not know that Jon and I were full-time RVers for about a year and a half. It’s still so strange to say “were.” I can’t believe that chapter is over already. • The sunrise is from a family photo shoot I did on Miami Beach when we were volunteering on an Organic dairy goat farm, and the next photo is the most gorgeous sunset we got to witness at Palo Duro Canyon in Texas. You can catch up on our travels and follow our journey into farming and building our own farmhouse inspired tiny home over @marriedtoamowery
Have I mentioned how much I absolutely L🖤VE Black and White? If you love black and white as much as I do, wearing contrasting colors will really enhance that black and white look. Even if it’s a dark purple and yellow...it’ll look great as black and white.
I am SO craving fall mini sessions right now. I have no idea why. Probably because fall is literally right around the corner here in North Idaho, and I’m making plans for this year’s time slots and locations for 2018 minis 💜
Transitioning from summer to fall? No problem! You can easily use your accessories and footwear to quickly switch up a look on the fly during your senior session. Statement necklace, a cute hat, and killer wedges for summer. A colorful scarf and cute booties for fall. Easy peasy 💁🏼♀️ • Don’t be fooled by this photo. We may have officially been into fall, but it was actually 90 degrees the day of her session, and she rocked it!
High school years can be tough. For many, they are a stepping block to the future. Others are just trying to “get through.” It can be a place of encouragement, or discouragement...friendships or people who just try to tear you down. I, myself, experienced many years of bullying leading up to my high school career. And it wasn’t until I started accepting myself for who I was, and finding friends who did too, that everything started to change. Come as you are. There is only one you...and THAT...is pretty darn awesome. #antibullying #choosekind
Lacking color in your wardrobe? Bring accessories and layering items that bring a little color to your look without breaking the bank. These items are super easy to switch out during your session to achieve several different looks.
Why yes, yes it is 🙌🏻! And I’m heading to a coffee shop this morning for my very first Planning Session with one of my high school senior clients and her mom! I have craved this for so long since being 🚎💨 full-time RVers for a year and a half (@marriedtoamowery ). I am beyond excited to get some beautiful faces in front of my camera again. 💃🏻 • How are you kicking off your weekend?
