It’s #TacoTuesday, and tonight we’re planning on having chicken burritos (our at-home version of Moe’s) with salsa + Queso, and I’m overly excited about it. I’m also excited about watching another episode of Justified, which Tyler got me hooked on and now he no longer likes. (But isn’t he just the best for continuing to watch it with me anyway?) And I’m not sure why I’m telling you guys this except to say that I love having normal days where we just get to do what we want and eat what we want and watch what we want. I’m the kind of girl who finds happiness in the simple parts of life, and I think that’s because I don’t take any of it for granted. I don’t take for granted that I have a home to live in or water to drink. Or a husband who is good to me, or friends I can call, or family I can ask for help, or a church I can worship at. So, I’m excited for tonight and the salsa we’ll eat, and the conversations we’ll have, and the puppy snuggles I’ll get. No matter what life throws our way, we can find God’s goodness somewhere. What can you celebrate today, friend?
This girl right here is my best friend from since I was little (swipe right). She kept me laughing and was the best person ever to make up dances with (our favorite thing to do). • She was also the very first person who paid for a photo shoot with me over 4 years ago. (Swipe right to see an image from that shoot!) • She was also my model for the first shoot I ever tried to shoot film. (Where the rest of these images came from.) I had no idea what I was doing, but she was totally patient with me while I was learning! • And guess what? We scheduled her engagement session today and I am just feeling all the feels. 😭💕 I can’t believe my bestie is getting married, and that I get to photograph the journey for her. • @mikaylanblack, thank you for being the best friend a girl could ask for, and for supporting me. We are going to make some beautiful magic showing off your love story, and I just CAN’T WAIT!
I had a roommate in college who was getting a degree in photography, and I remember thinking it was kind of silly. Photography as a career? LAME—any chump can take photos. 😂 • Here I am 4 years later proving myself wrong. I bought a camera in college and decided to start doing sessions to try to make money (because if she could do photography, so could I, and I was broke). But what I didn’t realize was how much I would love it (and also that it isn’t as easy as I thought it was). I’ve always had a creative itch, and photography satisfied that like no other. And then I decided to quit the corporate world and go full time, and I fell even deeper in love with it all. • I am IN LOVE with sharing people’s stories and capturing their love. I love every part of it—the technical side of shooting (and breaking the rules in an attempt to create something beautiful), the marketing, the SERVING (because customer service is everything), and even the spreadsheets and paying taxes...all of it. I love it all. And I know—I’m one of the lucky ones that gets to do what I love every single day. And trust me when I say I don’t take it for granted even for a second. • I’ve got some really fun new things I’m planning and prepping this summer, and I can’t wait to share them. I’m just so grateful for all of you who have supported me and continue to follow along. You, friend, are the best. The best the best the best. Thank you for being you. ❤️ • Photo by my sweet MUMU, @merejamison on #fuji400h from over a year ago!
