Friendship isn't about ago you've known the longest. It's about who walked into your life and said, I'm here for you and proved it. // Thankful to be in love with my best friend, who cemented a place in my heart after only one year. ❤️ Happy #nationalbestfriendday!
Mood. Work levels high, stress level low. Smile, my loves! It's almost Friday! 🤗 _________________________________________ P.s. here are the deets on the dress and that ethically made straw tote --> http://liketk.it/2rD1R #liketkit @liketoknow.it
The above quote is a loose adaption of James 3:5 that resonated with me today as I reflected on how words can leaving lasting impressions that impact our psyches. _______________________________ One of the most painful highschool memories I have involved careless words directed to me from a classmate, who happened to be a young and also black. I don't even remember his name and can barely recall his face. But I remember the words he spewed at me quite vividly: I'm sorry, but black women just aren't that attractive. The ugliest white girl here is probably prettier than the prettiest black girl. (Context: I went to a predominantly affluent Jewish private school, where I was one of maybe 30 black kids in my class). I knew how ignorant that statement was then, but it still struck me at the core of my heart because I knew he meant them and wondered if others felt similarly. That statement along with other hateful/racist actions I've endured from middle school through college resulted in self-confidence issues I've only recently begun to resolve, largely due to me finding my worth in Christ and not my physical appearance or other's perception of black beauty. Still, those words caused more pain than I even acknowledge at the time. _________________________________ Indeed, words can leave impressions on others that last a lifetime. Choose yours wisely and always aim to uplift rather than destroy.
Casually strolling through this week like 💁🏾 // No room for work-week anxiety when there's a long weekend up ahead (filled with ALL the R&R) // Y'all got any fun plans ahead for the long weekend (and can I get an invite?! 😘)? // Dress: @zurikenya + Photo: @hannahqphotography
SO excited to (finally) share pics from my shoot for @zurikenya + @bemyrose -- two ethical companies ran by #bosswomen I ❤️! That gorge dress was handmade in Kenya of pure cotton East African kitenge -- and it's BY FAR the most comfortable dress I own (it can even double as a maternity dress for all my moms-to-be) // P.s you can still use code LIZFLOWERS for 15% off any arrangement at bemyrose.com 💐 | 📷: @hannahqphotography
No wordy, philosophical late night rant tonight. Just some brief but timely words of wisdom a friend passed onto me after I had an unexptedly emotional day. And now I'm passing them on to you 😘Night, my loves!
