Well, we’re a little late, but the melons are ready.
When I arrived at Oregon State three years ago, I was told we’d be moving to a new space soon. Well, we’re boxed up and slowly getting there. Might not make the first day of class but it’ll be close. (Darkroom in boxes seen here)
A gallon (approx. 80) of my own San Marzano tomatoes just picked and ready for canning.
Who says romance is dead???

First test of the fermented pickles this morning. After three weeks in the closet, I can tell you they’re very crunchy and very tasty. One more week. Making new batches today.
The San Marzanos are on the verge of ripeness. Prepare to can!!!
It’s heading towards 96 today, so a fresh bowl of blackberries from the yard turns into a blackberry lemonade sorbet.
Made my favorite green pozole tonight. Starts with our home made chicken/pork broth, shredded chicken, tomatillo salsa, hominy, and spices. Slow cooking for hours. Adding corn, a whole (but small) avocado, diced red onion, cilantro, lime, and plenty of green tobasco.
