It's been great having someone by my side this summer but this week marks @baileyjeanettejones' (my intern) last week! So we've cleared our plate of client work and are wrapping up by working on her portfolio, getting her ready for her last year of college and having a day of ask me anything. So feel free to post any questions below regarding design, business, freelance, and pretty much anything! ✨ ps she designed this super gif, isn't it cute!
He likes coffee, she likes tea, he likes rap, she prefers hip hop, he likes jazz, she likes Cole Porter, he stays up late, she's in bed by 10, he talks to everybody, she doesn't like small talk, he watches history documentaries, she watches space videos, he likes whiskey, she likes tequila. ✨ Just a little peak into the life of a little design couple living in a big city. 💑
We've got travel on the mind especially since we're working on branding an Austin-based blog. I love meeting people that have such love and pride for the city live in, regardless of if they grew up there or not. Which city do you currently call home? 👀🏢✨🏡
I used to think running your own business took years of experience, an MBA or something like that, a type of personality that you're either born with or you're not, and a certain something that only a few special people on shark tank have. But for all the newbie business owners and entrepreneurs out there, let me tell you, it's not a matter of being born with it, we're all just figuring it out as we go and learning from our mistakes along the way. ✨🐝✨ ps I don't know where this quote is from, I got it from a @yellowconference tweet.
I've shared sneak peaks of this brand and site but haven't shared the full reveal so here it is! Hands down my favorite part was applying the branding to the website. Feel free to read more about the project below. ✏️ Behind the Design Some of the guiding words for the style of the brand were soft, understated, delicate. As Morgan put it, she gets her clients' attention not by being overly loud but through a quiet understanding of what they're going through. A lot of the photography Morgan uses in her blog and Instagram features natural elements so I included hand-drawn floral illustrations to tie that in and bring in a delicate feel. ✨ Behind the Brand Development The first thing we addressed in Morgan's brand was getting clear on who her coaching services are for, and how to describe that to her target clients on her website. When it comes to a website my motto is keep it simple, and keep it clear. Oh and make it gorgeous. 👌🏼
I opened up my Linkedin the other day for the first time in a few weeks and was pleasantly surprised that I got all these messages congratulating me on my two year anniversary of starting Little Trailer Studio! I officially opened up shop in June 2015. At the time I had no idea what I was doing or what services I would provide. I quit my full time job with no clients lined up, no leads, no real business plan, no business name, nothing. It wasn't easy, and still isn't, but it's been quite the ride! Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to go have a cupcake for dinner. ✨🍰🎈
