I had a lightbulb moment for yet another way I could use my fabrics over the weekend (on Earth Day, actually!) – I'm going to turn these squares into beeswax wraps! One of my intentions this year is to use less plastic, and while I don't use things like plastic wrap, I do occasionally use plastic produce bags from the grocery store and feel guilty about it every time. I think these will be a wonderful alternative. I'm going to use grated beeswax sprinkled all over the fabric and then melted in a very low-temp oven for a few minutes, then painted on with a brush so it's fully coating the fabric. Have you ever made these before? It seems really easy! (Famous last words, am I right? haha.) My level of excitement about this project is pretty high. I lead an exciting life. Look at this amazing pillow that @loveoffabrics made for today's stop the #TallinnFabricsBlogTour. 👏👏👏 I have so many technical questions about and so much admiration for how this was put together! Check out my blog for the full tour schedule (link in profile). We're on Day #5 right now! _____________________________ #TallinnFabrics #handemadepillow #agf #artgalleryfabrics @artgalleryfabrics #fabriclove #sewingisfun #fabricdesigner #makesomethingeveryday #jessicaswift #fabric #handmade #handmadelife
First-ever sewing night with my friends in my studio is happening!
This little quilted pouch is the most technically perfect one that I've made yet, I think. It's also the first one I've sewn with a non-metal zipper, and wow that made it much easier! I will have to make some more like this, for sure. What I really want to know is: why didn't I start learning to sew more things before now?? I've always known how to sew but have never progressed beyond beginner level. Better late than never to improve my skills, I suppose, but really, I've been missing out. It's so fun. ps – the fabric is from my new line, Sirena with Art Gallery Fabrics, that will start shipping in June!
Today's stop on my Tallinn Fabrics Blog Tour is @elerihandmade's, and she made this simply stunning quilt for her daughters using the Fairytale colorway of the collection. Isn't it beautiful?! Those piano key details on the top and bottom edges are so fun and unexpected. Head over to her IG feed to see more pics and head over to my blog tour intro post (link in my profile) for a direct link to her blog post. I cannot get over all these things being made with my fabric. What a dream! Thanks, Eleri, for making my fabric look so lovely! :) ____________________________________ #TallinnFabricsBlogTour #TallinnFabrics #jessicaswift #agf #artgalleryfabrics #quilting #modernquilt #quilt #fabriclove #blogtour #sewingproject #sewing #HST #halfsquaretriangles #fabricdesigner #fabric
Kate of Daily Tarot Girl recently did a video reading with my #AnimalAlliesOracle cards that I thought you guys might be interested in checking out. She chooses 3 cards that embody the energy of this current week, and it's so interesting to hear what she has to say about each card and how to apply it to your life as you move through the week. Check it out over at daily-tarot-girl.com/tarot-blog/! _______________________________ #animalallies #oraclecards #oraclecardreading #tarot #tarotreading #oraclecardoftheday #oracledeck #oraclecard #animalwisdom #animalart #animalenergy #dailytarotgirl #jessicaswift
