A shout out to THE POSSE from Chesterfield, who called in for a coffee & ice cream on their tour - great to see you all!
It's hard to believe, but we opened the Milk Bar, on this Thursday, before the Bank Holiday weekend in 2016!! Thank you for all of your support over the last 3 years - without it, we wouldn't still be here! So many happy photos to choose from, it was hard to pick a few (and sorry to anyone who hasn't appeared)! 🍦🍰🧁🍨🎉
We all worry about the amount of waste we produce, this is the same for businesses as much as individuals. So we were delighted when Heather started using the #milkbar coffee grinds, used tea bags, veg peelings etc to make compost at her allotment . We’re just looking forward to the tasty results later this summer?!
Fresh cream Raspberry and Chocolate Roulade waiting for you this morning?! You know you want to... #milkbarmade
Our compostable takeaway coffee cups are plant based and plastic free, providing a sustainable alternative to single use products.
It’s great to see more cyclists out and about, as this fab weather encourages us all to enjoy our beautiful countryside. We are on the national cycle route 68 in Wooler, which heads north (via Doddington) to Berwick or south to the Ingram Valley & beyond. National Route 68 of the National Cycle Network is known as the Pennine Cycleway. It runs up the spine of England and through three National Parks between Derby and Berwick-upon-Tweed. For more information see https://www.sustrans.org.uk/ncn/map/route/route-68
The first of the 2019 Northumberland National Park/Wooler Cycle Hub guided leisure rides took place today, setting off with happy faces from the #milkbar (glad they didn’t listen to the weather forecast!). They were heading to picturesque Ford and Etal, stopping for a close look at historic and scenic locations along the way including: the Routin Linn neolithic rock art site; Ford Moss industrial heritage site; Maelmin site of Iron Age reconstructions and both Ford and Etal’s medieval castles. Details of this ride (and future ones) can be found at: https://www.cyclinguk.org/local-groups/wooler-cycle-hub
Our Doddington Dairy #milkbar is just on the side of the #A697 in Wooler, approximately half way between Edinburgh and Newcastle. The perfect independent place to stop for coffee & cake, breakfast, ice cream or a light lunch? #eatwelltravelwell
People have been asking when we’re open over the Easter weekend. We’re open as normal, but just to confirm... (And they tell us the sun is going to shine ☀️🤞) x
#Milkbar History Tom and Ena have visited today and presented us with this lovely picture that Ena had painted for her mother fifty years ago. Ena's mother was born in the house behind the Milk Bar and then went to live at Doddington, as the housekeeper at the vicarage. Tom also worked at North Doddington in the dairy, and on the farm, before marrying Ena and moving away. We can't believe how little things have changed in those 50 years!
They're back in stock - Emma's 'Scotch Cream Eggs', but be warned, they keep selling out! Get them while you can...😋
The #Milkbar is located on St Cuthbert’s Way, a 100km cross border route from Melrose to Holy Island. It was such a lovely evening, so I followed part of the route home, then branched off at Weetwood Bridge back to Doddington
