The Autism Society of Alabama is humbled to receive the CARES Award for an organization for 2018. We are excited about the progress that our state has made in making services more available to families living with ASD and are hopeful that Alabama will continue to work towards these goals. There is still much more work to be done and ASA will continue to strive daily to serve all those affected by ASD in Alabama. Thank you for allowing us that honor and privilege. #grateful
Have you heard? The Autism Society of Alabama has launched the Funky Fun Run, our new spin to the past Walk for Autism event held during April's Autism Awareness Month. While it will still be the same event featuring a Walk and 5K*, we encourage participants to dress Funky!! Think retro wear - bright colors, tie dye and bell bottoms. ASA and Making Connections held our first Sibshop event yesterday in Huntsville. Thank you to all of the AMAZING siblings that came out for a day of fun and sharing! #sibshop #siblings #AutismSocietyofAL
ASA and the University of South Alabama RAN held a Coffee Chat in Mobile on service animals. This was a great opportunity for families to ask questions about service dogs and how they can assist individuals living with ASD. The meeting also helped educate the public on the difference between service dogs and those used for therapy or emotional support. Thank you to Jd Drinkard with John 9:3 Foundation and Michelle McDaniel with Canines for Christ for coming out and speaking to our group of parents and service providers. @journey.of.hope @john93foundation
