Slow bite today but the crew got it done. 🤙 
Winds were 15-20 knots out of the East and whitecaps/spray in the secluded areas of the bay. It was getting dark fast because of the storm so I checked the radar and saw a big storm cell coming our way. The storm blacked out the sky and everybody else had already raced their boats in. We had only just found the fish because weather forced me to hunt a different area. My guys only had the one shot to fish before heading back home and I felt confident it was just going to be windy and wet, (no lighting). So I said to them “well, what do you guys want to do?” They asked can we make it through, I said yes, they said, think the fish will bite? I said I hope... There we were in sideways rain, 36v trolling motor spinning in highest gear, tossed the anchor, can’t see the rods, just had to listen for the drag. We had a couple bites in the storm but as soon as it cleared there was a window of chaos. Long story short, the fish turned on hard and we hauled in half a dozen chunky Bulls. We decided to cash our chips and race back in to beat the next storm. Another great adventure down in the books!

The sight fishing for bull redfish on the flats has been quite good. It’s a stealthy game of chess with these fish that requires accuracy and patience. Watching them swim off smarter and no worse for wear is the reward of a properly executed release. If you want to go do this we need to book yesterday.. John is one of those guys who doesn’t waste a second deciding whether or not to go fishing with me when I tell him the bite is on. Even if he can’t go because of work you can hear it in his voice that he’s trying to figure out a way to go. He seemingly always shows up entirely too early for the trip ready to roll! Each trip he has an incredible sense of humor, on point casting abilities, and a passion for fishing that pushes me further as a guide. I think this is why we consistently have stellar trips and laugh ourselves silly back to the dock. John has supported my charter business since day one and for that I will always be grateful! Not a fan of the theme park crowds that has become red snapper season on the east coast so when my buddy invited me to join him for a little grouper/snapper digging on the west coast I was all in. We saw one other boat the whole time we were fishing and we had our limit off the first spot. A pair of 28 and 29 pound gags made my day and made the big snappers feel like porgys. Good to see one of my fav fishing mentors @captaintimnoe now running a 42 Freeman and thanks to @profishonel for inviting me along! @gulfcoast_offshore
