United Way President & CEO Tom Olver presented a special donation to representatives from Life Choices of Central Michigan last Thursday to support Hepatitis C testing for patients and STD testing for male patients through the age of 22. Through a collaborative initiative called “Matching Money Mondays,” community members were invited to make designated gifts to Life Choices through United Way during the month of March. Sixty eight individuals contributed $11,165, and United Way added a $5,000 matching challenge grant for a combined total of $16,165.

Seven teams presented their ideas on how to improve the quality of life in Gratiot and Isabella Counties this morning at the 2nd Annual PITCH-ER THIS! Youth Venture Competition. United Way is excited to be investing $5,000 in each of the top three ideas. Congratulations to The Gear Turners from Ithaca North Elementary for receiving first place, Panthers Read - Literacy Lounges from Alma High School for receiving second place and The Betterment Brigade from Sacred Heart Academy for receiving third place!
President & CEO, Tom Olver visited Beal City High School today to present their Educational Mini-Grant. This is United Way's inaugural year offering Educational Mini-Grants to schools in Gratiot & Isabella counties. We believe that every child should have the opportunity to achieve their potential through quality education and we would like to express our appreciation and thanks to the teachers, principals, administrators and Board members who make that possible each and every day!
