Taylor and Rich eloped last Friday. They went on a hike to an alpine lake for their private ceremony and then met up with me that evening to explore and have cake and champagne. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This is from Taylor when I sent her a few previews of the day: All I can say is WOW! We weren’t expecting these so soon and they’ve totally blown us away. I have thought of you several times since we parted and can’t begin to tell you how thankful I am for the over the top amazing experience you created for us. The photos are beautiful and I really feel that they do an incredible job showcasing the love we feel for one another. Thanks again for a low pressure, exciting experience! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Its messages like this that make me love my job. Thanks for your words of encouragement Taylor! and thanks for letting me document such an authentic moment between you two.
When you plan a sparkler exit but the fire danger is too high...
Two amazing humans got married in Winter Park a few weekends ago. The wildflowers decided to celebrate too ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Congrats Brandon and Amanda!
This was right before a police officer came over, congratulated the couple and proceeded to tell me I needed to move my car asap. #oops. congrats Sarah and James!
Last week: Denver. Salida. Crested Butte. Denver. Buena Vista. Telluride. Now dog sitting 3 dogs plus my own while I try to catch up on the huge list of editing from the past month. Its been a whirlwind lately...but oh so good. Hopefully I'll share more here soon! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ From Megan and Ryan's wedding in Telluride last Sunday. It was extremely hot that day and we sought reprieve in this coffee shop for some cold water. Sometimes the best photos come from the unexpected moments. Actually...99.9% of them do.
From Danielle + Rene's Salida celebration last weekend. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ While Danielle was getting ready, we talked a bit about how unique wedding celebrations really are. From an anthropological perspective...they are a fascinating and rich tradition that often gets overshadowed with the cheesiness and facade of it all. But at its core, a wedding is the coming together of lives. Not just of the couple, but of the families and friends surrounding that couple. As Rene's father eloquently stated during the ceremony (which I'll put my own spin on it here), our choices have a ripple effect to the community surrounding us, and for Danielle and Rene it culminated in the bringing together of two communities for a day of celebration in the mountains of Colorado. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Congrats Danielle + Rene! Can't wait to hang with you two soon!
Congrats to Victor and Suzannah last weekend at The River Bend in Lyons. It was a day filled with strong community, strong drinks, and strong dance moves. I will forever feel grateful to get to witness and document celebrations such as this! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I tried to drive home after the wedding...but got really sleepy half-way in and so I slept in my car on Kenosha Pass. I didn't even make it to the back seat...just pulled my sleeping bag over me in the front seat and 7 hours later...finished the drive. #worthit!
Huge congrats to Jason and Lindsay in Durango last Friday! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ There was SUP boarding, BBQ-ing, volleyballing, lots of laughing, camping, friends reuniting, dancing, and sunset watching. It was truly an honor to be a small part in this weekend of celebration
Well...yesterday was officially my favorite photoshoot of ALL TIME! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Ray and Gwen, Salida staples and love birds for 68 years. I just can't contain myself with how incredible these two are!
Congrats CC + Archie! It was awesome to get to document your day. Scroll through for a little preview!
More than creating a great photo...I believe in having a great experience. above all. live the moment...great photos will come from that. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #yellowfeathermotto
Had two surprise engagements this past weekend. I hid in some bushes and told a bunch of lies to trick the ladies. Went horseback riding to an amazing waterfall and met some incredible people. I do like this job of mine. . . . . . ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #coloradoweddingphotographer #mountainweddingphotographer #mountainwedding #yellowfeather #elopementphotographer #bohobride #authenticlovemag #weddingpioneer #loveandwildhearts #adventurebrides #weddingphotoinspiration #salidacolorado
This weekend marks the end of my off-season (but somehow I still have a huge list of off-season tasks that didn't get done!). Let the craziness begin!!
Taxes done and a whole new bookkeeping program in place! The things you don’t think about when you start a photography career...
I used to make fun of wedding photography and sometimes I still think engagement photos are super cheesy. but then I think about future kids and grandkids seeing photos like this.... and then I believe in this work all over again.
Foggy morning hikes...
When the wind is crazy and sand is blowing in your eyes and you have the best time anyway.
Oh my my. I need to blog (though I hate that word). I have soooooo many great photos and stories from the past three years that i just haven't had a chance to post. Will hopefully get some up on my website the next few weeks. #neverendingtodolist
Well... looks like 2018 is going to be a busy year! And starting to look like 2019 will be too. Lots and lots and lots of emails and phone calls and skype meet-ups. Whew. Excited that so many people have asked me to document meaningful aspects of their lives. Truly. I really love this job of mine and am feeling quite excited for what the next chapter holds!! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Photo from Julia + Khaulan's sunrise hike in Paradise Valley, Montanta. #weddingpioneer #montanawedding #bozemanweddings #destinationwedding #authenticlovemag #mountainwedding #mountainweddingphotographer

Ummmm.... I actually teared up when I opened this surprise gift from @chelseakay5 and @j.wolfski . Unexpected. Unnecessary. And incredibly thoughtful and appreciated! The relationships formed from this “job” of mine are really what I love most. Thank you, you two wonderful humans!
My goal in creating a photograph is to first and foremost, create a memory. A truly great photo will come from a great memory. You can create aesthetically great photos... but if all the couple remembers is how posed they felt... that’s what they’re going to remember. I want them to get goosebumps when they see their photos because they remember how they felt. I’m not saying I do this perfectly by any means... but it is the goal! #engagementphotos #coloradoengagement #lifetold #coloradophotographer #adventureengagement #coloradoweddingphotographer #wedcolorado
Mel + Justin at The Great Sand Dunes. Yes yes yes. #wedcolorado
Mother + son dance. Sometimes I’m so very aware that a magical memory is happening right before my eyes. This was definitely one of those moments. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ . . . . #coloradowedding @tennpassco
Dasha and Brian ... two amazing humans in downtown Denver.
