It’s the first day of Spring, so I’m pretty much obligated to share a flower photo with you! _ My favorite flower is always changing, but right now I’m obsessed with tulips. Did you know that tulips are phototropic, meaning that, even after they’re cut, they bend and stretch to get closer to the light? I love that you can’t tell them where to go, their inherently wild nature always shines through. _ What spring flower are you obsessed with? _ photographer: @rachelredphotography venue: @kshgevents bridal accessories: @emmakatzkabridal . . . . . #charlestonflowers #charlestonflorist #charlestonwedding #charlestonweddings
As we walked towards Mont Saint Michel on that foggy November morning, our anticipation grew with every step. Because, with every step, a new detail was revealed. At first, we could only make out the distant silhouette. As we drew closer, buildings became more clear. Shapes began to reveal details, and the excitement grew and grew. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ _⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I can still remember so vividly the moment that a ray of sun squeezed through the fog and placed itself upon the most spectacular golden angel atop the highest spire, as though it had pierced the clouds and illuminated her just for us. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ _⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This spot had shaped the entire plan of our trip. As soon as we learned of it, we knew that we couldn’t leave France without seeing this 13th century monastery, set in the middle of a tidal harbor outside of a small Normandy town. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ _⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ What I wasn’t prepared for was how Mont Saint Michel would leave an imprint on my soul that I’m sure will be with me forever. Though I’m not one to be at a loss for words, describing the feeling of sitting quietly in the chapel during mass, the monks chanting the same way that they had 800 years ago, seems an impossible task. Having heard it, I have no question as to why so many had braved the treacherous tides to make the pilgrimage there, or why the monastery itself was named La Merveille, The Wonder. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ _⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I can only hope that my own journey leads me back to it someday. Until then, I’ll look back at this photograph and dream of that tiny golden shimmer, waiting for the perfect moment to reveal itself.
