Did you know the @PAMM's waterfront proximity to Biscayne Bay required the building to be elevated above the regulated flood and storm surge levels, which allowed the parking garage to be placed below the museum. . . This arrangement facilitated an unprecedented design that integrates parking and planting beds with irrigation system water storage, storm water infiltration, temporary storm surge storage and aquifer recharge. . . The innovative porous-floored parking garage, along with rain gardens, has been designed to capture rain water and funnel it into the ground water system, thus reducing local flooding and storm water runoff into Biscayne Bay. This last innovation saved significant project funds from being spent on injection wells. Photo by Robin Hill (@hill.robin)
Metropolitan moments at the @PAMM. The building architecture of the Perez Art Museum Miami expresses the raw materials of concrete in its many forms, therefore we selected native plants to display the raw materials of the Florida subtropical landscape as a complement and contrast to the geometric architecture. It's an honor to have worked on the Perez Art Museum Miami as the project's landscape architect. We're reposting this wonderful image from the ASLA's @landscapearch account! Thank you for highlighting our work! ・・・・・・・・・・・・ @PAMM: Resiliency by Design, designed by @ArquitectonicaGEO, in Miami, Florida. This sustainable art museum (building architecture by @herzogdemeuron) was awarded the ASLA 2015 Honor Award.
