Today’s writing prompt: The smell of a place you love⠀ ⠀ This could be a corner in the library near your house, a used bookstore, a restaurant, a coffee shop.⠀ ⠀ But what does it smell like? Coffee, the Fabuloso they use to clean the floors at night, new books, cinnamon pastries. Name everything that you smell. And then see if it takes you anywhere else. ⠀ ⠀ 📷: Esther Wilhelmsson on Unsplash
Manchac Writing Month starts in TWO DAYS on Wednesday, April 1st!⠀ ⠀ For the month of April, every day we'll post a writing prompt. You just set aside time each day to respond to the prompt. All you need is a notebook or a file on your computer, at least 15 minutes a day, a connection to our Instagram or Facebook, and a safe space to write. ⠀ ⠀ The purpose of this is to be a part of a writing community and encourage each other to write and share what we create. So when you are finished responding to a prompt, tag us in the stories or a post and we will share it to our page. Also, invite your friends to write with us! They don't have to be in school or go to Southeastern to participate. You can tag them below 👇⠀ ⠀ When the prompts lead you to create something incredible, submit it to us for publication through the link in our bio!
Hi everyone, I hope you are adjusting to the new plan of the semester well. We were scheduled to have Manchac Live, our open mic event, this coming Thursday in the Writing Center. However, since we are being encouraged to avoid group meetings, we are instead replacing this event with a different event. For the month of April, we will have Manchac Writing Month, a month of writing prompts and ideas on our social media pages on Instagram and Facebook. I hope this will be an interactive time, in which you share with the community what you are working on—even if it is just a snippet or a few lines. We will share everything shared with our tag on our social media page. I sincerely hope this will be a time of cultivating our creative community, not only encouraging creative writing on our own, but also strengthening our relationships by being able to share our pieces and read other people’s works. Students are welcome to share not only literary writing, but also works of art or music that are influenced by the prompts. And hopefully it will be fun for us!
