Look what I spotted in the supermarket today: #plasticfree olive oil soap! When selecting soap bars, be careful to avoid those that contain palm oil as this ingredient is contributing to the destruction of rainforests. Olive oil soap is soft for the skin and the environment. It also tends to last longer than regular soap bars. #plasticfreesoapbar #soapbar #plasticfreetuesday #plasticfreesoap
When we launched Plastic-Free Tuesday in 2014, the topic of #plasticpollution received little attention. That has changed over the years and by now the topic frequently pops up in daily life. An example is this book titled “kids against plastic” (in Portuguese), for sale at a local post office. While some progress has been made in raising awareness, we need structural change in terms of policy and businesses.
Great to see reusable produce bags in this supermarket in Portugal! #plasticfreetuesday #lesswaste #lessplastic #minderplastic #lessismore #plastiminderen #plastbanta #plasticvrijedinsdag #mindreplast #noplanetB
Shampoo bars are a very effective way of reducing plastic waste. 🛁 I ordered this one online. When I placed the order, I asked the shop to ship it without any plastic. This worked out well: the bar was packed in just one layer of paper and delivered in a simple paper envelop. I usually don’t like it when packages come with additional unsolicited merchandise, but the “biodegradable seed paper” that came with it looks interesting. It probably helped prevent the bar from breaking. I don’t need the seeds, but now that I have it, I may as well plant them. 🍀🌺☘️ What is your experience with online shopping? How do you go about avoiding plastic in the process? We’d love to hear your do’s and don’ts.
