This is my motto this year. 🙌🏻 I want the things I do with my students to add value so I can make the difference. ❤️ #backtoschool #btsreadywithtpt
I passed out my I Can statement booklets at back to school night last week. 💁🏻They're perfect for parents AND students because the booklet has the CCSS in the form of I Can statements that are easier to read and understand. 👨👩👧👦 I originally made these for a parent education event, but realized all of my future classes could benefit from this resource. It's even great for teachers because the deconstructed standards are useful for planning and for creating formative assessments. 📝 All the way around, it's a versatile and useful tool. Grab one for your grade in my shop. Grades K-6 are available. 🤗 Link in profile. #btsreadywithtpt #backtoschool
I am absolutely loving @msdoylein2nd's version of my growth mindset bulletin board! 😍 Shop the link in my bio to get this bulletin board in your classroom, too!
Something I do every morning at school is greet my students with a high five, handshake, fist bump 👊🏻, or a hug. I learned this from my master teacher when I was student teaching, and it's something that's stuck with me ever since. ❤️ It's a great way to make connections, build student-teacher relationships, and really get to know your students. I use this as an opportunity to ask students questions or notice new shoes and haircuts. It's the little things that go a long way. 🙌🏻 #btsreadywithtpt #backtoschool
I was super excited about this lesson that I did this morning. 🤓It all just came together so smoothly. I did an academic vocabulary lesson earlier this week on the phrase point of view. 📝 We used this phrase throughout the day while practicing other activities. Today, I decided to take it a step further and have students use the phrase to compare characters' different points of views. I even used it for a Back to School Writing assignment. Students interviewed each other and then used those responses to write their point of view on their classmate. They wrote their paragraphs in the glasses and drew a picture. 😎 From my point of view, it was a great back to school set of lessons. 😜 #btsreadywithtpt #targetteachers
I love ending the day by honoring students as Students of the Day. ❤️ These are kiddos who exemplified kindness, hard work, patience, and/or a growth mindset. 🙌🏻 I keep track of the students who get them, and always make sure each student gets honored a few times a month. If they are chosen as student of the day, they get to put a stuffed animal (from our class library) on their desk the following day. 🐻 It's rewarding and encouraging. You can find these notes in my shop. Link in profile. #btsreadywithtpt #backtoschool
