Our next #saltfaithfulfemale is Phebe Draper Palmer Brown- Phebe was born in 1797 in Rome, New York Married George Palmer & together they had 7 children. Their daughter, Eliza, died in a fire at the age of 8 When Phebe was baptized by Brigham Young in 1833, George responded with So, you had to get your backside wet, did you? He never joined the church & passed away in 1834, leaving Phebe pregnant with their 7th child After George's passing, Phebe moved to Kirtland with 4 of her children. During this time she met Ebenezer Brown, who also had 4 children from a previous marriage & they were married in 1842 While traveling across the plains they were asked to join the Mormon Battalion. Phebe was one of 4 women who made the trek to California with the Battalion. After helping to build the city of San Diego, they finally arrived in the Salt Lake Valley in 1849 She helped Ebenezer open & run the first post office in Draper, Utah & was the first school teacher there A life-size statue of Phebe & Ebenezer is standing in the Draper Historical Park. Elder L. Tom Perry dedicated the statue & said, Statues are not made for those that have passed on: they’re made for us to enjoy today. As you look at this statue, you must think first of their faith, faith in God, their Eternal Father; faith in their family and faith in themselves. What an amazing woman!! Thanks @missgenealogy for gathering this info for us!!

What’s your favorite scripture?? One of mine is John 14:27- “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” About 13 years ago, my dad fell 50 ft rock climbing and when I heard the news I dropped to the floor and started praying. This scripture immediately came into my mind out of the blue. I knew that it was God’s way of telling me that everything would be okay. ❤️❤️❤️

I’ve been thinking a lot about the time in my life when I didn’t know if God and Christ were real. I still attended church at that time, although not whole heartedly, and I prayed every once in awhile, but the thing that I had absolutely dropped off the planet on was reading my scriptures or listening to conference talks. I had no interest in putting my time into that. I read plenty of friends comments and articles on social media that were against the church, but I wasn’t balancing those comments and articles out with something from God. It took a long time for me to get to a place where I could commit to read scriptures. It was at the same time that I created the Be the Light group on Facebook and people were posting conference talks almost every day. I committed to myself that I would read whatever people would post. Guess what happened? As I read those talks, my heart was softened. I had more of a desire to learn of God from His Apostles and Prophets instead of learning about Him through opinion articles from a friend. I started to crave things of God instead of things of the world. I slowly started to believe that God and Christ were real until eventually I could say it with 100% surety. If you are teetering right now and not sure what you believe- I can promise that you will find God in the scriptures and in talks by Prophets, Apostles, and other leaders of the church. It might feel awkward to take that first step of reading them again, but keep at it. God will help you see very quickly that He is real and that Christ’s Gospel is on the earth today. 📷: @tiffany.webster
During the month of June, I found God in the sunsets over the lake, in the moon and stars while I danced in the desert, and in the sound of the ocean crashing on the beach. June gave me major wanderlust and I want to be exploring anywhere and everywhere with my little crew. Where is your favorite place to travel (or even better- where should I travel to next?! 😉😉) 📷: @mandinelson_
