Smile. Happiness does not depend on outside circumstances, but rather on inward attitudes. Smiles are free to give and have an amazing ability to make others feel wonderful. Smile in everything that you do. - Dale Carnegie
Love freely. Don't make love about what you can get in return. That's one of the biggest lessons we've learned in marriage. It can be so easy to withhold love when you don't feel like you're getting as much as you're giving. But that creates such a downward spiral into being two separate entities rather than one united whole. So love. Love big. And see how much you can serve the one you love...you just might be surprised at how rewarding that actually is.
What are you grateful for today? When I was a little girl, I kept a gratitude journal. At the end of the day, I would write down 5 things I was grateful for that day, even if the best thing about the day I could come up with was that I didn’t have chicken pox. It made me focus on the positive, no matter how hard a day it was. I would like to start that again, as it always makes me realize how many blessings truly abound in my life. So here goes. 1. I'm grateful it's not snowing (seriously, this is big...Montana springs are no joke). 2. Reid (he's such a steady, loving presence. I love him). 3. Oliver, our toy poodle (makes me laugh every day). 4. We're *almost* done with our house (this is HUGE, as we've been working on it every day for the past 9 months). 5. YOU. Seriously. Our amazing, loyal, smart, lovely, wonderful followers. You make being a part of this crazy land of Instagram such a joy, and we are so grateful you're a part of our lives. Now it's YOUR turn to think of 5 things you're grateful for today! Comment below!
A couple of years ago, I jumped off a cliff. Yes, literally. I lept off a 30-foot cliff into the ocean swell below. Why would I jump off a perfect good, solid piece of rock into the ocean, you might ask? Well, in the few years leading up that moment, I'd felt this ever-encroaching, sneaky sense of fear start creeping into my life. I found myself becoming afraid of things I'd never been afraid of before...traveling, dancing, skiing, meeting new people...stuff I'd literally grown up doing and had previously loved. But I was doing them less and less frequently, and all because this devious little voice in my head was saying, Stay put. Don't push yourself. You don't need to get out of your comfort zone. Doing that could be dangerous. You might get hurt. So, I listened. And life started getting incredibly confining and perfunctory. I wasn't taking chances or being adventurous. I was being held captive by my fear. And then one day, my last day on a trip to Hawaii in fact, I'd had enough. I saw some locals jumping off a cliff at the edge of the beach and was overcome by the urge to do it. It was like to mentally break out of the confines I'd placed on myself, I needed to literally leap. Sometimes we don't need to be so literal to break out of the boxes we put ourselves in. But sometimes we do. How are you going to leap today?
Rose gold wedding goals. Florals & planning by @katalingreen at @fostercreekfarm.
On our website contact form, we ask how couples found us. Literally the last inquiry we got, the the bride wrote “Referred by Style Me Pretty.” So many of our wonderful couples have found us through this amazing resource, and with the recent news that @stylemepretty soon will be no more, our hearts have been heavy. But we’re not willing to just sit back and do nothing. @stylemepretty has done so much for our business and the thought of it going away forever is not one we’re okay with. Go to the link in @kayenglishphotography’s profile to sign a petition to #savesmp and then head over to @oath to post #savesmp as well.

One of our favorite things about traveling is making new friends. People are fascinating, aren't they? Everyone has a different story, and we have a genuine interest in getting to know someone new and hearing about their life. Truly connecting with other human beings is what we believe this life is all about, and we consider it a privilege to hear someone's unique story and learn from them. So grateful to have met the wonderful people we did on this beautiful day at @weddingsatstgileshouse, including the amazing @weddingsparrow @marthaandthemeadow @rowanjoy @beautisserie @lisabridalhairandmakeup @markiepearl @samuelpine
