Bees maybe wild animals but they are essential for our survival. That is why it is important to look after them, however small the act maybe. Inspired by Sir David Attenborough’s post, we are planning to create a small ‘bee garden’ at Golden Grove that hopefully will create an oasis for insects and bees alike.
Popped by to a friend’s greenhouse and was shown a beautiful cactus flower. Apparently a cactus flowers for only 20 hours so super lucky to have caught it in bloom. #cactus #bloom #greenhouse #gardening
Spotted by the log wall at Golden Grove. How many baby polts can you spot? Running around looking for mother pheasant.
Cute picture of two young before they went out to the grass earlier this month.
Our sheep were sheared last week and finally rid of their winter fleeces. Jacob sheep have 4 horns and have very thick fleeces so are particularly difficult to shear. It is a dance where you continually rotate the sheep around shearing each section of the fleece. This is physical exhausting work, so no need to go to the gym. #sheepshearing #shepherds_are_awesome #fleece #jacobsheep
The very talented team of tree walkers - Essex style! Tidying up the old lime tree avenue, to make roads safer. #goape #treecutting #limetree #ahhh #dontfall
Tiger (one of the farmmen with a great Essex accent) and myself chatting by the gate as we watch the cattle settle down after moving them out of the yards onto fresh grass by the river. #essexisbest #farminguk #cattle #farminglife #beefcattle
Field walking and checking the crops as the ground becomes drier. Good to see that the beans are well established and flowering. Beautiful white and pink - as lovely as any garden flower! 😉😉#beans #floweringplants #arablefarming #fieldofbeans #essex #smilymonday #goldengrovecaravan #theorangeryessex
