Whether we lost an hour or not, some weekends are so perfect they just don’t seem long enough! Yesterday’s adventures started with seeing Knox’s favorite people, our friends from @gkbcattle who were here at the ranch loading out some of their cattle. The SUN came out and it turned into the most beautiful couple of days... Knox has spent all of his waking time either outside playing or riding around the mule checking cows with Nannie (@luann_v8)... we have had 3 heifer calves born this week! (That’s a big deal for us, because last year we had ALL bulls born from our embryos!) This time yesterday, we pulled up just as a calf was being born and Knox got to see the whole thing. Here’s to new beginnings... spring, we are ready to welcome you with open arms!
My feed is loaded down with a plethora of pretty and I’m getting a little bored with it. (Can I say that?) Now don’t get me wrong, I love photographing all of the delightful details from a wedding day. Shoes, paper goods, and rings help complete the story, but without the “main characters” the story wouldn’t even be possible. This past weekend I was helping at a wedding for our sister company. During the ceremony, I was standing in the back of the church and noticed something that I would usually overlook. For a few seconds, everyone in the church was praying for the couple and their marriage. It was a pretty powerful moment and, at least to me, was more beautiful than the gorgeous florals cascading from the ceiling. I feel like we’ve been trained, for whatever reason, to think that things are more desired than individuals or moments. Is it wrong to think that people are greater than details? Am I alone in this thought? #peoplegreaterthandetails
We’ve been singing the ABCs to Knox since he was born. He just let us know that he knows the song too! (Excuse me while I watch this on repeat for the next hour.)
Our evening routine always (weather permitting) includes checking on the calves around the ranch. This might just be the friendliest group ever - as soon as they see us cross in to their pasture, they come a-runnin’!
“People are born so that they can learn how to live a good life - like loving everybody all the time and being nice. Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don’t have to stay as long.” - Shane, age 6 ❤️ Today, we had to say goodbye to our beloved Hudson. He let me take his portrait one last time yesterday while enjoying the afternoon sunlight, and that is how we will always remember him. ☀️ It will be a hard thing to move past, but if Huddy taught us anything, it was to not be sad. So we will try our best to remember the plethora of great times we had together. #hudsonneumayr
Holy moly! I can’t believe this is the cover of my book. My author copy is supposed to arrive soon and I can’t wait to get feedback from my first reader, Knox.
