The children here lost 2/3 of their school year and technically they aren’t even supposed to have left their house since the middle of March. I’m worried about my kids. They are losing their language. We don’t take furloughs this long, for this very reason. The government is talking like this is going to go on through the end of the year. It isn’t healthy. 💔 I’m taking them to get haircuts tomorrow. I don’t know if that’s allowed or not but the barber shop made the appointments so 🤷♀️
There are 3 sewing machines at the farm now. It was Jimmy’s idea and it has been wonderful! Hilda has taught many how to sew. Several of us went to town today to buy fabric. The ladies with nursing babies couldn’t come since children still are not allowed to leave the house. I was worried we would have to wait and go inside one at a time but the market was nearly empty today and we all got to go inside together ❤️We had a wonderful time! This is the closest thing to normal that has happened to me in months! The last slide is the fabric I chose for Eden’s dress. 🧵 Today was so encouraging!
I took down my letterboard because some ants were building a nest in it 😆. Edén said she was going to change the saying and put “God is light” on it. My composition class is going on right now and we talk about Christian fluff - things we say that may be true but we don’t process these statements in a way that actually can affect our life or anyone else’s. I asked her what that beautiful statement really meant. She thought about it a while and then spelled out. “When I sit in darkness the Lord will be my light.” ❤️ Last night she came and got me because the light she leaves on while she sleeps burnt out. I didn’t have another bulb like that one so I put a couple little nightlights I had in her room but it wasn’t the same. I know she was stressed and I know she talked to God about it after I left. Her experience with this truth last night allowed her to build her own understanding of it in a meaningful way. ❤️ That’s the kind of truth you share with others.
This is the year of the baby girls! There are 3 beautiful newborn baby girls living at the institute with their families. 🎀🧸 They are the cutest babies ever too! #junkabalibq
God has placed so many people in my life here that I admire and am honored to call my friend. In the middle of complete shutdown they found unique ways to make me feel so loved and special. And Jimmy made me THE BEST from scratch carrot cake!!! I’m 40!!! 🎉
Jimmy fixed the false ceiling in our bedroom and hung these lights for my birthday! 😍 It’s the one where you turn 40 🤫 The shades are from the market in the capital and the beads I collected over time from thrift stores. I love it! Jimmy also built the bed about 7 years ago. He’s pretty handy 😀. #dinsmorebirthday
My family gave me the sweetest Mother’s Day ❤️ filled with creative notes, games and my favorite foods! Go Dog Go Fish is still going strong from Titus’ birthday and we just learned Canasta. I’m so thankful for my family! #dinsmoremothersday Jimmy got me another 2 years supply of the best hot chocolate in the world. It is grown here. They only do bulk orders. If you come visit, I will share some with you 😉
We are so thankful for this wonderful blessing God surprised us with 4 years ago! He is smart, loving, assertive, has a great sense of humor, and has told us dozens of times last night and today how thankful he is for each part of his birthday party. We love celebrating him and all the ways God has blessed his life. His favorite book is Go Dog Go. He has it memorized. So that was the theme of everything today. I think he feels very special! #dinsmorebirthday
Our next door neighbor’s beautiful peacock. 🦚 He has a hilarious personality! He is super loud and fusses at us all the time when we make abrupt noises inside our house and startle him. 🤣
