  • “This post-placement grief can be scary sometimes...” I talked last week about journaling and how it can help both by getting all of your feeling out as well as a way for you to look back and remember and understand where you were at in the past.

I’m journaling this morning and this was my last entry. I was feeling lost and frustrated with my faith and the church I grew up in (when I’m ready and comfortable, I will share more details). I used to never journal my real feelings. I would journal the day to day happenings, but never what my heart and mind were truly feeling. I think it was mostly that if I wrote it all down, my parents would read it or then I would have to come to reality that those choices and feelings were real. I was raised to feel like I couldn’t express my feelings and that if I thought or felt the “wrong” things, it was shameful. Expressing feelings was “weak” and just not something we did.

My point is- journaling has helped me, among other things. I won’t sit here and say I’m perfect at it...considering that last post was from April 2018 😂. But when I do, I feel so much better. There is something about dumping all of your feelings into paper that is relieving. It may not solve your problems, but it sure lightens your load. On top of that, I want my kids to be able to go back and read these hard entries. I want them to know and understand me more deeply. I want them to know the raw and intimate details of this journey. Maybe it will help them at some point of their lives. Maybe not at all.

Hey guys! I’m over on my insta stories talking about adoption! For a late takeover Tuesday!
  • Happy New Year (again)!! I have a crazy plan up my sleeve! One of my goals for this page, this year, is to focus a lot in education. Especially adoptee and birthparent voices!
If you haven’t already, go check out my inst-story to hear a run-down of my idea that I need YOU to help me with!

In a nutshell, I’m looking for adoptees and birthparents who are interested in “taking over” my insta-stories for a Tuesday and sharing their perspective as well as educating viewers on something they feel is important. This could look like a series of videos, pictures, etc that will fill the story for the day!
PLEASE feel free to add some feed back down below or in my dm’s!
