After letting her ride the luggage rack one time, now every time she sees me loading Aria says “I ride!” in the most southern way possible (sounds like “ah rhaad”) and climbs on top of everything.
Heading back to Music Ranch Montana tonight (3rd straight night!) to watch Rory Feek do his show. Technically Thursday was Paul Overstreet’s show but he invited Rory to sit in. I’m sure it’ll happen vice-versa tonight. Last night (Friday) was a birthday party that Amy and I had the honor of singing a song I wrote with @rbcwrites called “Old Fashioned.” It’s one of our favorites to perform! What an honor it was to sing that song as part of a gift from the Ranch owner, Frank, to his sweet wife Karen for her birthday. We also got to hear Frank sing and Karen played the bass. They were great! As the birthday evening progressed Paul and Rory got up and did a few songs for Karen. Meanwhile the kids had another night of fun playing on the HUGE hill. I cannot believe this weekend! We are surrounded by some of the kindest, most down to earth people. Not to mention all the awe-inspiring talent! We’ve met some sweet families from Tennessee and Bowling Green, KY who are working here this summer. They have kids our age so it’s been nice to interact with folks who know all about home also. It’s easy to think of how good God is on weeks like this... but the challenge in my mind is to remember that no matter what, God is good anyway. Even when things don’t feel like they are going right, or in the midst of tragedy, God is still good. That’s what I want to take away from this time. I’m reminded of that when I see Rory Feek perform with his daughter, Indiana next to him and by the stage on the wall is a picture of his wife, Joey, who passed away a few years ago. The last time he was here was to perform one of the last shows they ever did together, months before she passed. In spite of the sadness one can still see God’s hand and His love radiating from Rory in his and Joey’s music AND in the way he carries himself. #musicranchmontana #roryfeek #pauloverstreet #traditionalcountrymusic

What a night! We were at Montana Music Ranch tonight and had the honor of watching @pauloverstreetmusic and @roryfeek put on a songwriter show. They told stories, made us all laugh, then made us cry with some of the hit songs they played. I was mesmerized by the whole experience of the songs, the performers, the mountains around us, and my family surrounding me. Wow. Paul Overstreet and Rory Feek write the kind of songs that 1st moved my soul as a kid (some of them are the VERY same songs that eventually moved me to Nashville to be around it more!), so I couldn’t have had a better night if inspiration. On top of that, “Music Ranch Montana” is one of the best venues I’ve ever been at. We got to sit on the hill and watch the kids play and eat ice cream all while still catching the show. Avery was ALL over the place playing with other kids so I didn’t get many pics of him. Also, our morning started early as we left our hotel in Spearfish, SD. I followed the google map suggestion and ended up on a gravel road with NO other cars at all for 45 minutes (besides 2 county worker trucks). We did see some cows though! They decided to sit in the road a while which Avery and Aria thought was the funniest thing ever. 😂 Good times. 👍 #musicranchmontana #traditionalcountrymusic #songwriters #roryfeek #pauloverstreet #richestmanonearth #montana #familymemories
Just got to our hotel room in south St. Louis. We are excited and honored to be leading worship and visiting with our friends tomorrow at First Baptist Church of Murphy! It’s probably my fourth time at this church over the years so it’s becoming like a family reunion! The best part is this time I have my wife and kids with me also. 👍
Thanks to my in-laws watching the kids, Amy and I had the BEST time last night watching a legend, one of my musical hero’s, Ray Stevens at his new theater in west Nashville called Caba-Ray! From “The Streak” to “Everything is Beautiful” to “It’s Me Again Margaret,” Mr. Stevens was hilarious, energetic, telling stories, jokes, and even bringing a tear to the eye with his more serious stuff. He is no doubt a Music City treasure! Go see his show! #raystevens #cabaray #countrycomedy #legend
