We spent the day in Portland celebrating Maria and Jake. We loved all of the personal touches that Jake put into making their day so completely them. So many gorgeous photos to come!!!
It's been quite some time since we blogged our last wedding, but now that we are gearing back up for our 2018 season, we are going to do our best to share our gorgeous 2017 weddings! From the horse-drawn carriage, to the jazz band, to the church pews and ringing of the bell, to the cigar bar and farmhouse tables, to ending the night with a food truck and paper lanterns floating into the sky, and every teeny moment in-between. Annice and Eric’s wedding will always be a favorite of ours, and once you take a peek into their day, you will understand why! Link in Profile!! 💕☀️🙌🏼
Saturday night we went out for dinner at an old supper club to have a final dinner with my eldest sister before she drove back to Florida. While we were waiting for our table a sweet old man walked in and greeted his granddaughter and her friend. He asked the little girl’s friend if she was a fan of Taylor Swift. The little girl said “not really.” Then he tried to explain to the girls that he had his radio on last week and all they were playing was Taylor Swift and he kind of liked her music. it was different, but he enjoyed it. He asked the little girls if they had a favorite singer and the both sort of shrugged their shoulders. I was rocking Parker and completely eavesdropping on this conversation. The old man then said, “all of my favorite singers are dead!” We made eye contact and smiled. The little girls didn’t really acknowledge his statement. I learned 2 lessons here. 1. Because I put my phone away, I was able to witness one of the cutest conversations I’ve ever heard and completely fell in love with this 80 year old man trying his very hardest to connect with his 12 year old granddaughter and her friend. 2. I would give anything to have one more conversation with my grandpa. I wish my 16 year old self would have cherished our time together more than I had. Time is not promised. Love a little harder, and listen a little closer. Putting your phone away can be extremely refreshing.
Parker is 2 months old today! Time is flying but each day gets better than the last. He’s been sleeping 7-8 hours at night for almost 4 weeks already! His favorite activity is sitting in his swing on Nana’s porch. Little man is still wearing newborn clothes and approaching 9 pounds!! He’s our little peanut! 😍 He’s just the sweetest most chill little guy and we hope he continues to spoil us!
Hi new friends! We are Alyssa+Ryan, the husband&wife duo behind the lens! We haven’t introduced ourselves around here in a while, so I’m going to dive right in! Here are 5 fun facts about us! 1. We first met at UW Stevens Point back in 2010 in a college house basement while playing beer pong! 🍻 (so classy!) 😂 2. We’re obsessed with Chick-Fil-A 🐔 *especially their house sauce* 3. We’ve become huge advocates of Costco, and we don’t feel bad about it. 4. On the weekends we used to sleep in until 10 or 11 💤 until the best thing in the world came along! (Continue to #5) 5. We welcomed our son into the world almost 2 months ago and he forever changed our lives for the better. He makes us smile everyday, and we love him so deeply it hurts. Our weekend plans include reseeding our yard and getting some good old fashioned family time in. Weekends look a lot more like trips to Home Depot and the grocery store. We’re not sure exactly when that happened, but we are quite happy about it! 📸: @caynayphoto
In two weeks we head to Oregon to document a beautiful wedding downtown Portland! It’s so hard to believe it’s been 4 months since we shot our last wedding! Can’t wait to get in the groove again.
The weekend again!? I have yet to be on a normal schedule since Parker joined the world, so all the days just sort of run together. It’s hard to believe this is my 7th week of maternity leave. Not all of you may know this, but on top of shooting weddings and portraits, I work alongside my best friend of 26 years virtually staging vacant homes around the country! It’s basically a glorified game of Sims! Well, next week I start up that work again and to help ease my mind into that work mode again I pulled up my work email. Admittedly I had to ask my girl Hailey what my password was! Anyway, I opened up my email which had over 100 unread emails and scrolled back to March 8th. A client reached out and asked for some specialty work to be done on some photos, and thanks to Hailey, an automated email popped up that I was on Maternity leave. So many emotions. First of all, this email was sent only hours after I gave birth to Parker. At that point I had hardly known him at all, yet it felt like an eternity. Second of all, I didn’t put that automatic email response on there, that was all Hailey. I was sent to the hospital 5 days early for signs of preeclampsia and I had no time to get my work in order for Hailey. She was a life saver for me! Contacting our boss, letting our clients know that she would be taking over and even letting our wild pups out while we were in the hospital. So here I am, sitting on the couch snuggling my sweet boy, so overwhelmed by emotions. So for now and this weekend, I’ll hold him a bit longer and admire his innocence as he sleeps in my arms. I am so thankful that I have 2 jobs that allow me to work from home so that I don’t have to miss this precious time in our lives.
