I’ve seen so many couples this week with one or more failed IVF cycles and it’s heartbreaking. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. IVF doesn’t always result in a baby. It’s a harsh, harsh reality for many. Science will only take you so far. It can put the egg and sperm in the right place, but it won’t change their quality, or the health of your uterus, and this could be difference between a successful cycle and an unsuccessful one. These are the things that you CAN improve with a targeted diet, lifestyle and supplement plan. You can help to increase your success rates AND lower your chance of miscarriage. If you need help with this please do get in touch. You can DM me or email at neema@nsnutrition.co.uk

Thanks to @ohhappydani for this resonating image. I've been a bit quiet on here to give some space and respect to what is going on at the moment. George Floyd's completely inhumane and unjust death I'm sure has touched many of us. I've taken a step back to process to my own thoughts, to listen and well, DO. To be perfectly honest at first I didn't really know what to say, but to not say anything at all is almost worst. I still can't quite believe that in 2020 we are still having to have these conversations. It's exhausting and HAS to stop. So whilst 'normal' fertility service will resume from tomorrow, please know I haven't forgotten, and there's a lot of honest and self reflecting work happening behind the scenes 💗

Can I still drink alcohol? How much? These are two of my most commonly asked questions so here's my two cents. 1. Limit your intake 2. Go organic The reasons being is that it can put pressure on your detox systems (not great for hormonal imbalance) and deplete the body of crucial fertility nutrients. Research shows that drinking alcohol (1 to 5 units per day) may lead to: 1. Delays in getting pregnant 2, Reducing conception rate by 50% 3. Lower implantation rates 4. Increased miscarriage rates 4. Ovulation problem. What delightful reading! When it comes to how much YOU should be drinking, well, it depends. There's no real magic number as alcohol tolerance is so personal. I'm also a believer in how mentally beneficial a good glass of wine can be sometimes. So with my clients, I assess them on a case by case basis. Tailored nutrition advice should be just that. Are you still drinking? Have you cut it out completely?

If you don't ovulate every month, or AT ALL, then you need to find out why. Remember you can have a regular bleed and still not ovulate (release a follicle to be fertilised). Some potential reasons why: Thyroid imbalance High prolactin Insulin resistance (sensitivity to sugar) PCOS Endometriosis Under-eating Over exercising Nutrient deficiencies Oestrogen dominance High LH Birth control pills Stress Do you ovulate every month? If not, why not?

Are you ok? Tell me truthfully. Let’s be honest, infertility is crap and you’re part of a club you never wanted to be a part of. ⠀ ⠀ Do what you need to survive. Embrace the good days, and get through the bad days. Cry, scream, whatever gets you through.⠀ ⠀ It was by far the hardest thing I have been through. It tested me, my marriage and made me question everything about life and what I wanted from it.⠀ ⠀ What really helped me in what felt like a world of things that were out of my hands, was to take some control back. I may have had challenges, but empowering myself with the knowledge and tools to change the outcome of my body and my fertility journey was a game changer. ⠀ ⠀ Knowledge is power. And you can improve your fertility. You just need to know what to do.
