I went in search of summer today and through the rain, I found a slice of it at @bbcgoodfoodshow & BBC Gardeners’ World Live at @necbirmingham (on all weekend) #gifted ☀️ I tried some nibbles and some sips of some lovely food and drink and enjoyed walking around beautiful blooms 🌹 Well worth a visit if you want to treat yourself or even pick up something for Dad ahead of Sunday.
A #tbt snap ahead of Father’s Day is one of my favourite photos of my Dad and Ethan. Although you could be forgiven for thinking it’s Sullivan, they are still so similar. Sadly my Dad still hasn’t met Sullivan as he remains in hospital having rehabilitation, over five months since his fall, but hopefully it’s something we can arrange soon.
(AD - #gifted) The great thing about being on maternity leave is having time. Time to get to know your little one. (Eventually) time to get things sorted. (Hopefully) time to also invest in and take care of yourself. Here’s some things I’ve been doing lately: • I’m having fun making teether necklaces and rings on my craft page @pipsandpopsshop. • I’m reading these fab books by @tanithcarey to help us better understand the stage Ethan is going through. He’s had moments of being really moody or uncooperative for no apparent reason and it just feels like a tricky phase. He’s learning a lot at school and seems to be asking more questions or being aware of some more tricky aspects of life and growing up so Tanith’s advice is something I’m really keen to read more of (book reviews to follow soon, but there’s already some great advice from the author on my blog). • I’m trying to take better care of myself and with summer around the corner, bringing with it another birthday (😳), and helping my psoriasis, I’m trying to look at things from the inside out. I’ve started taking Efamol Evening Primrose Oil as a supplement for ‘beautifully smooth looking skin’ because who doesn’t want to look their best? We all know that a healthy, balanced diet, lots of water and early nights will help our skin to continue to look fresh and at its best but when teak life get in the way (read - children!) I think a little extra support can make a difference. Efamol Woman Pure Evening Primrose Oil helps support nourished looking skin and can help keep skin looking beautiful and smooth. What’s not to love? This premium oil comes in two strengths - 500mg (£11.99) and 1000mg (£9.99) – and is available from Amazon, Boots the Chemists, wassen.com, health food stores and independent pharmacies 😊
I have 10 weeks left of maternity leave and I’m trying to make the most of my time. Of course Sullivan is the priority and I want to enjoy every moment with him. He is a joy to be around and so easy going, I know I’ll miss our days together. But I also know that I won’t necessarily get a big chunk of time like this again so I’ve been working bit by bit on house projects. Little by little I’ve been sorting cupboards, clearing clutter, creating space... It has to be a step by step process as there’s always the daily tidying to do and of course the baby! But we’ve got through quite a bit and I have some more plans yet so that we can be as on top of things as possible by the time I go back to work and time will be more of the essence. Watching #tidyingupwithmariekondo for further inspo. What are your top tips on keeping on top of things at home?
A fuzzy throwback photo to our first trip to @disneylandparis as it’s Donald Duck’s 85th birthday, he’s hubs’ favourite (but is very elusive) and we’re always dreaming of when we’ll next go back #donald85 #donaldduck85 #disneylanddreaming
It’s the end of our first week of weaning and he’s been taking to it really well. Following #annabelkarmel loosely again and he’s now on three food feeds of mixed purées a day, and eating more each time. Just look at his enthusiasm! Going to introduce a few more things this week but so far he’s eaten a food range and liked it all. It’s all about picking the right time at the moment. #weaningbaby #weaningjourney
