Surprised to see a Christmasy post mid January?? Well, it’s been Christmas in our home everyday this year, but it finally ends today... Christmas, we held on as long as we could! But the tree is starting to look a little sad and we finally have a chunk of time to take it all down. 🎄 So tonight, as one last hurrah, it’s time for our Christmas De-Decorating Party! 🎁 Traditional Christmas Radio on Pandora ✅ All the Christmas candles burning ✅ Eggnog in my Wally World glass ✅ Best Christmas Ever sweater ✅ New Christmas Minnie Ears ✅ Christmas spirit to last all year ✅ 🎄 Now to figure out which Christmas movie we didn’t get to on our list and watch it while we take all the decorations down and put them away until next time... 😩 See you in a few months Christmas! 🎅🏻 Ps Am I the only one with their decorations still up?? Or where yours down ages ago? 😅
So thankful for friends who will laugh with you, listen to your problems, dream with you, encourage your endeavors, and make you beautiful things for your anniversary photo shoot! I met Sarah of @landlcreative through this little app because I reached out to her about collaborating with me on my first styled shoot and of course a friendship grew from there! It has been so nice having someone to bounce ideas off of and who makes life beautiful and fun as such a dear friend! Tonight we went out for Thai food, ordered the same yellow curry, and then laughed as we told the guy at Peet’s Coffee our identical orders with the same name. He called out “the Sarah’s” and we laughed again! 🤣 Sarah, thanks for being such a great friend! I am so thankful for you and I’m so excited for what this year has in store for you!!! 💖 Friends, if you have someone in your life that you’re thankful for, tell them!! So often I hear people bragging on their friends to other people, but how much more powerful would it be to actually tell your friend!? Feel free to tag them here to let know know what you love and appreciate about them, or just shoot them a text! 🎉 Ps this is the verse that Eli and I have engraved inside our wedding bands! We thought it was fitting for our 10 year anniversary shoot with @jameswitty & @jessfairchild 💍
Day 2 of rainy, windy, stormy weather, and this California girl is already ready for sun! 🌞 Golden hour, the time before sunset when the light feels so magical in the sky, is one of my favorite times of day! Especially on a wedding day!! It’s such a beautiful time to capture intimate bridal portraits and allows my couples to soak in the fact that they just married their best friend! 👰🏻 But for now, I just consider this a preview of what the weather might be like in Paris, so I count it all joy! ☔️ Do you like rainy days? Or do you live for the sunshine?
Double tap if you agree that rainy days are perfect for staying in and cuddling! ☔️ It’s rained practically all day and I’m not at all mad about it! Maybe a little bummed that I wasn’t able to spend the whole day curled up on the couch with a book lol and trying to force my kitty to cuddle with me 🤪 What’s your favorite rainy day activity?? And better yet, who’s your favorite cuddle buddy?!
Happy Monday!! We made it through the first day of this week! Getting back to the grind after a full weekend can sometimes be hard for me. Can anyone relate?? 😅 Over the weekend we had date night, Mario Party hangs with my family, church, celebrated my nephew’s 4th birthday, and spent time with Eli’s family! While it was a weekend full of activities and a busy schedule, it was also full of some of my favorite things: family, quality time, laughter, and yummy food! Plus I got to squeeze my niece and nephews, which definitely makes this auntie’s heart happy! 💖 While I am still working on figuring out balance in life and work, I am reminding myself of the things that will really matter to me when I’m 80 years old. Which will be the memories I made with family and friends, travels, being the best aunt I can be! Not how a certain post performs on Instagram or what the people in the cheap seats think of me. If at the end of my life I can confidently know that I loved and served my people well and traveled the world, I’ll know I led a very successful life! 🗺 So tell me friends, what is your definition of success? 🎉
Happy Friday!! It's been a while since I've done a #fridayintroductions and since there are some new faces around here, I thought I'd share a little about me so that you can get to know the girl behind the camera!! I'm Sarah, a Disney and cupcake loving girl from Northern California. I love to give hugs and encouraging words! Treats and quality time are my love languages 😅 Also, smiling’s my favorite! Even though I am self conscious about my small teeth and gummy smile, I still believe in the power of a smile! So when I saw this photo that @jameswitty & @jessfairchild took of me during mine and Eli’s anniversary session, I felt like it was a good representation of how I want to show up in the world ever day! To my family, my friends, and my clients! I have been photographing weddings for over 10 years. I love being able to serve my couples on their best day ever and create lasting memories for their legacy! My husband, Eli, and I have been together for over 10 years and he started second shooting with me in 2014. We love seeing people fall in love with their best friend and we are so honored that our couples trust us to capture the first day of their marriage! 💖 When I'm not working, you can find me in the kitchen baking something yummy, dreaming of my next Disney trip (next month 🙌🏻) , or reading a book and trying to get my kitty to snuggle with me! 😻 I would love to get to know you more too! What is something that makes you super excited lately??
I seriously cannot believe that I will be in Paris in 1 month! 1 month you guys!!! I have been dreaming about Paris for as long as I can remember and it’s finally happening!! I have a list a mile long on all the things I want to see and do, knowing full well I won’t make a dent and that this will be the first of many trips! Have you been to Paris?? If so, let me know your favorite spot/thing to do/thing to eat! I need to know all the things! 🇫🇷 My love for Paris was the leading reason that I loved the France Pavilion at Epcot!! Not to mention the incredible attention to detail and the theming!! So fun and immersive! If it weren’t for seeing the Japan Pavilion across the water, you would almost not be able to tell the difference! 😉 Swipe to see why I don’t ask strangers to take our photo! 😅 After seeing my camera and asking me to take their photo, they always want to reciprocate and take our photo. I say that’s ok, but they insist. So after a mini camera lesson, this is the result! A for effort though! I mean, the water looks amazing! 😅
Looking into forever together 💖 One of my favorite times on a wedding day is when my couples sneak away after the ceremony for their first portraits as husband and wife! A wedding day is full of excitement and everyone congratulating you, so it's nice to spend a few minutes just the two of you to look into each other's eyes and reflect on the fact that you just pledged eternity together! This time also allows for a more private and intimate time to have your photos taken together!! Of course we will take the standard, posed/smiling photo that you'll want to send to your mom and grandma, but it's the in between moments, the way he looks at you, and the photos of the way you couldn't take your eyes off each other that will most likely be your favorite as well!! 💖 I am so excited for all my couples who are getting married this year and I'm excited for all the ones to come!! I am still booking weddings for this year and I’ve already started booking for 2020, so if you or someone you know just got engaged, I'd love to chat about your wedding and capture your best day ever!! Send me an email or a DM and lets talk!! 👰🏻
Happy Homecoming Day to this little fluff ball! 5 years ago today we adopted and brought home our kitty, Nessarose! I can’t believe that she has been in our life for five years now. She has become the princess of our house and even though she only wants attention on her terms, she wins over everyone she meets! I am forever thankful to @mrs_noah_ark for sending me a photo of this little tiny kitten that she was fostering for the @placerspca who is recovering from surgery after losing a tow and the tip of her tail and for asking if I was still looking for a Christmas gift for @elischweyer 🎁 She wasn’t available for adoption until 14 days after Christmas, so I wrapped a photo of me holding Nessa. I felt a little bad that he thought she was somewhere in our apartment, but he spent the rest of the day staring at her photo! While we don’t know when her actual birthday is, we always celebrate Nessa on January 8th, her “Gotcha day!” 🐱 Swipe to see the photos I mentioned in this post 😻
Most of my memories growing up where when my family lived in an old Victorian home in Newcastle. It was in desperate need of some tlc when we moved in and I can still remember waking up that first morning and seeing my breath because it was so cold! My dad spent a lot of hours on that house and together, we all made it a home! I loved the bay windows in the front room, the banister, the wrap around porch, the hardwood floors, and the way we could spend the summers with all the windows open! There was so much charm in that house that spoke to my old soul, and that’s probably why I am so drawn to @parkwinters 💖 This wedding venue features beautiful gardens, a pool straight out of the movies, and this picture perfect White House with so many options for ceremony and reception space! If you are still needing a venue, I highly recommend Park Winters! I look forward to shooting weddings here in the future 💖
Happy Epiphany!! Three Kings Day! Twelfth Night. Whatever you want to call it. While we don’t officially celebrate this in our home, some people celebrate Epiphany as the day the wisemen came to visit baby Jesus. The over repetitive song, the 12 days of Christmas, actually comes from this holiday as today marks the 12th day of Christmas. So many people think the 12th day of Christmas is Christmas Day, but rather Christmas Day is the 1st day of Christmas! As such, Christmas decorations in our house must stay up until at least Jan 6th! Today is also the last day of the holiday season and decorations at the Disney Parks, so that’s saying something 😉 While they will start taking them down tonight, I will be holding on for a few more days because it’s just too sad for me. Christmas is my favorite time of year and I always want to stretch it out as much as possible! Besides, Christmas trees on curbs are too depressing for me... 🎄 Can anyone relate?! Who still has their Christmas tree and decorations up? ☃️
Every year, Eli and I spend time during the month of January to think and dream about the year ahead. Today, we had our big 2019 goals meeting where we shared our goals, hopes, and dreams for the year. We always take time to write them out and talk about ways to move towards them and make what matters happen! We also spend time praying about them and asking God to partner with us in our goals. I look forward to this meeting every year because it's so interesting to see how our visions line up and we are able to hold each other accountable and encourage each other throughout the process. I love using my @thedaydesigner planner (shown above) and my @cultivatewhatmatters Power Sheets are so helpful in uncovering and planning for my goals. I am so excited to see all that this year has in store for us and the progress we've already made this month inspires me to keep on going! 💖 How are your New Years resolutions or goals going so far?? Let me know what you are most excited about working toward so I can encourage you along the way! Check out the link in my bio to get your hands on the best daily planner! I just realized I’ve been using it since 2014 and all of them are the classic black and white stripe cover! I love that I can look back over the years and see my progress and thoughts as a journal of sorts! How do you like to keep your life organized??
