Today the government have announced they will bring Baby's Law to Parliament, increasing animal cruelty sentences from six months to five years. In the public consultation on this 70% said they support the increase. This new law will be justice for Baby the Bulldog and thousands of other animals who have suffered abuse and violence. I am pleased the government have listened to the thousands of voices calling for this change, from members of the public to animal welfare charities and campaigners. It was disappointing when my Bill fell last year but thankfully ministers are bringing it back in their own time. We now need to get this passed as soon as possible to help save other animals from suffering. #BabysLaw #animalcruelty #animalwelfare #animals #animalrights
The community's response to the news that Leonard Cheshire are to sell Marske Hall shows how loved and respected the home is. I have written to the CEO of the charity to ask for a meeting and will give any support I can to the #SaveMarskeHall campaign
Absolutely brilliant to be at Year 6 graduation from Coatham Primary. A wonderful bunch of children with such bright futures. They had me laughing and crying this morning. Good luck to you all!
It was great to chat to pupils at St Benedict's Primary in Redcar today. They had lots of fantastic questions to ask about politics and being an MP. Thank you for having me and I look forward to welcoming you to Parliament!
I was pleased to welcome Heathrow Airport to Redcar today to explore opportunities for a manufacturing and logistics hub as part of their expansion plans. This is a great opportunity to create jobs and bring investment to our area and I was glad to have the chance to show them what Teesside can offer, alongside our council leader Sue Jeffrey and the Tees Valley Mayor.
