Really into bell sleeves and open necklines this season. New outfit post (as well as a few mushy thoughts about change) on the blog.
I look at the hands holding my matcha this morning and I hardly recognize them. This time last year, they were swollen, dry, and the skin was pulled so taught I couldn’t bend my fingers or else they’d crack and bleed. I couldn’t wash my hair, make my bed, drive, or walk my dog. The only thing I could do was work on the computer, which was good because that’s what I really needed to do for school and my business. I’ve had a few times in my life (and still now) when my body fails on me no matter how hard I try to claw my way back to health. My hands eventually cleared up after three and a half months, but the swelling, redness, and dryness never went away. It’s now been three months since I started my hot belly regimen with my Ayurvedic doctors and my fingers feel less dry and like they’ve shrunk down three ring sizes. They’re still dry and red—one might look at them as they are now and ask me what’s wrong—but I can’t tell you how satisfying it feels to look down at these hands holding something so innocuous as a cup of tea and see their pigmentation healing closer to the color of the rest of my skin. Onward and upward.
Going to miss the sunsets from this view. 💙
There is nothing glamorous about moving, especially when you’re trying to do a DIY in the process (see my Story for more about that). Been very quiet on the ‘gram lately while I try to sell a bunch of furniture on Craigslist, pack, and reorganize in the process. I have to tell myself that anything worthwhile is not easy and I can’t wait to see everything once it’s finished. Happy Friday!
We sold our house and are moving to Oakland! We found an apartment in Jack London Square that we’re renting for a year while we figure out exactly what we want to ultimately do (multi-family, live/work space, in-law setup, etc.). My acupuncturist, nutritionist, chiropractor, and favorite grocery store are all in East Bay, so I’m excited to live closer to a lot of my regular haunts. . The apartment is half the size of our old house, but it’s only for a year and I think it’s a good practice for getting rid of clutter. Over the next few weeks, we’re moving into the new place. I’m happy to report my plants made the trip to the new place alright. I posted an empty apartment tour on my Instagram Stories if you want to see more. Anyway, that’s the latest and I’ll continue to update you as we get settled in!
Just a random building whose color scheme I liked. 💕 (Reminded me of you, @realnicework.)
If my Levi’s are vintage but not high-waisted, are they still considered cool?
The feeling when you just discover @thewalters_ only to find out they broke up last year. 😭
