Adios Colombia 🇨🇴 ✌🏻 This trip has been incredible. We traveled with a great group of chicas (and Jon), Explored Cartagena and Medellin but also got outside of the cities to lesser visited towns, met with the young generations of Colombians who are revitalizing their communities through art and music, learned how coffee is grown and produced, took salsa dancing lessons and put our skills to use with the locals, and so much more. Please please please visit Colombia. You won’t be disappointed.
I sent this photo to my mom and her response was “What in the blue hell is that?” and that’s better than any caption I could have come up with.
We spent today visiting Comuna 13 in Medellín to learn how residents are using street art as a way of revitalizing the community after years of extreme violence. Medellín as a whole still has a stigma about it. People who remember the cartels and violence of the 1980s and 1990s tend to believe this is still the case. Visiting Medellin (and areas like Comuna 13, previously one of the most dangerous areas of the city) help to erase the stigma.
Adios Cartagena, hola Medellín!
Feel the rhythm, feel the rhyme, get on up, it’s salsa time!💃🏼
